Greetings All,

Some exciting things are happening in the Wana outreach in the village of “Lone Rock.” It has been a blessing to be a part of this outreach – this past Sunday I was blessed to bring the message in Lone Rock as we studied from Romans 7. This village has had church and religion for a long time so we have had to do a lot of corrective teaching, but the Lord is working in their hearts and folks are starting become clearer and clearer about God’s word.

Esron on the the left, and Daniel on the right – our new brother in the Lord!

In this update, I wanted to share a testimony from one of my co-workers, Esron, about a new believer from Lone Rock whose name is David. (See Picture above) Esron writes:

Yesterday when Daniel (Affectionately known as Uncle of Osi) and I went to the garden, the two of us talked a lot about God’s word, and why it is important that we study it chronologically. David (after having gone to church for many years) is finally able to understand what sin is, and how God made a way so we could be friends again with God. He said if we hadn’t studied chronologically from the beginning he would have never understood sin, and why God had to change Adam and Eve’s coverings of fig leaves to animal skins. He said he also would have never been clear why God received Abel’s sacrifice but refused Cain’s. He said, “I always thought the smoke from Cain’s sacrifice didn’t go straight up and that is why God didn’t receive his sacrifice”. He also told me that if we hadn’t studied chronologically he would have never understood why God told Noah to make only one door to the Ark. And there were many other things he would never had been clear on had we not studied the word carefully in chronological order. So praise the Lord for all that he is now understanding. He now understands what sin is and the consequences, he has put his faith in Jesus and he knows now that he will be raptured to be with Christ. Wow!, it is the Lord’s desire that many people in this village of “Lone Rock” will be like this old man – he is so happy to study God’s word! Yesterday the two of us were working in his garden and talked about God’s word the whole time. I am happy because the Lord also uses these times in the gardens for us to study His word. This makes me cry with gladness, and also to think that this man was one of those present that night in the village of Linte many years ago when you, Ed, ate those bitter papaya leaves, and now he has put his trust in Jesus as his Savior. I am challenged to be teaching even in out in the gardens remembering, “That wherever two or three are gathered together, there am I in the midst” – Matt. 18:20.

(Note: In October of 1978 we made the first survey into Wana land. The first night on the trail we were fed bitter papaya leaves with rice. The leaves were so bitter that I couldn’t eat them, so I stuffed them down between the cracks of the bamboo floor for the dogs below to eat. The Wana people are very observant and even though I thought no one was looking – they did indeed see me, and they have laughed and laughed and have never let me forget it! Now after over forty years David has finally put his trust in Christ, and I have finally grown to enjoy eating Papaya leaves.)

God Bless,

Ed & Jeanne
