Jonathan Edwards calls the deeper, primary form of thankfulness ‘gracious gratitude.’ It gives thanks not for goods received, but for who God is: for His character — His goodness, love, power, excellencies — regardless of favors received. And it’s real evidence of the Holy Spirit working in a person’s life.

Dear family and friends,

I can’t let this opportunity pass by. Thursday was Thanksgiving Day here in the USA. We are thankful for so many blessings. It can take quite a while to “count our blessings and name them one by one”. Years ago, when I taught kindergarten, I used to teach my young students the song “Count your Blessings.” Then we would each say something we were thankful for. We did this many times during the month of November. I can’t sing the song without reflecting on those times. Examples: I am thankful for my dog, I am thankful for my comfortable bed, I am thankful for my little sister, I am thankful for ice cream. What are you thankful for? Hopefully, you have a LONG list. We have many spiritual blessings in Christ. These include salvation, God’s Word in our language, forgiveness of sins, the Holy Spirit’s indwelling, an eternity with Jesus to look forward to, PLUS SO MANY MORE!

Presently I have some dependable help in the housekeeping department. I have included a photo that Brad took of my young interns. Tory is in the blue and Caroline in the coral. Tory is from California and is in her early 30’s. Tory has plans to leave mid-December and head back home. Caroline is from Germany and is 18 years old. She applied for a year visa but was only granted one for 6 months. Caroline is considering heading home in February but may stay longer. She will make a definite decision by Christmas. There are 3 volunteers from the northern USA who will be helping in the housekeeping department this volunteer season. One will be here for the month of December; one for the month of January, and the third will be here January through March. I am thankful for each person God sends our way. Please keep praying for a full-time staff member to join our team.

I, Wanda, am having some knee problems. After X-rays, an MRI, and then a cortisone shot, I have seen some improvement. I have a follow-up appointment with my orthopedic doctor on December 7th. I am not back to my normal schedule of activity and am experiencing some pain. Brad would like to see an improvement in his health. He has an appointment next week with his primary care physician. He has a list of questions and is hoping for some answers. Prayers for these health needs would be appreciated.

Earlier this week we had 2 more residents (a husband and wife) move into the Latham Center from an independent duplex. Another duplex resident has been approved to make a move into the independent section of the Latham Center in the coming days. A duplex resident passed away last week. These are all common occurrences here at the retirement homes of Ethnos 360. We are thankful to be members of the staff here at The Homes. Taking care of our senior missionaries is a blessing to us as well as to those we care for. We thank the Lord for you, and the part that you play on our team.

Because of Calvary,

Brad & Wanda Hull
