Dear Family and Friends,

It has been on my To-Do List for the past couple of weeks to write at least a short letter. It just didn’t happen. I have a good reason which I will share with you. On Saturday, January 13th, we moved from our duplex here on The Homes property to a new location still on The Homes Property. Of course, we needed to do some preparations before the move. We went through closets, drawers, cupboards, etc., and got rid of “extra” stuff. We had been at 252 Brazil Court for 12 years and 10 months. That is long enough to accumulate things, as well as know the things that we didn’t really need. This meant evaluating things, giving items away, throwing stuff away, and passing things on to our Mission Barrel to share with fellow missionaries.

We had plenty of help on moving day. Some friends from our Florida church arrived at 9:00. They brought a long flatbed trailer with a ramp and a team to help with moving everything. One of the staff guys here saw what was happening and pitched in as well as one of the younger retirees on the property. Bookshelves, cupboards, and desks had already been emptied and boxes were stacked in our dining room. The move took just 3 hours. Then it was a matter of putting things back where they belonged. We had help from some friends who were visiting as well as retirees here on the property. Whew! We were both tired by the end of the day! That was just 2 weeks ago. My kitchen cabinets are organized, books are back on the bookshelves, bathroom cabinets are in order, closets have been rearranged, etc. We still have work to do. Some of the pictures are on the walls, but others still need to be put up. Some curtain rods and window blinds need to be installed. Brad has reorganized his shop area, but the small storage shed still needs to be put in order.

It has been a BIG job, but we are SO glad that we made the move. We are now in a much better location. We are no longer in close proximity to a major road with non-stop traffic day and night. We have a good view of a pond out our kitchen and dining room windows. We hear birds singing and see them flitting around.  Changing the address with Medicare, doctor’s offices, etc. is not completed yet, but we are making good progress on that front. Prayers would be appreciated as we finish up this move as we continue to work full-time.

There were many of our residents who were promoted to glory during 2023. The numbers were higher than normal. Eight were folks that I have taken care of in the Latham Center over the years. Of course, we knew all thirteen of The Homes residents including those who lived out in the independent duplexes. There are two residents who will be moving into our Latham Center in a matter of weeks. One of our ALF (Assisted Living Facility) residents was in the hospital last week and arrived back to the Latham Center just yesterday afternoon. We appreciate your prayers as we minister to our missionary veterans during their later years here on this earth.

Besides doing his office job, Brad has been busy taking photos. We have a BIG crew of what we call Royal Volunteers. These folks come from Canada, Michigan, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, etc. For the most part they come down in their RVs and stay in our RV Court here on the property. The men and the women do a whole lot of work in the Latham Center and in the duplexes as well as pouring concrete to repair driveways, sidewalks, and roads. We are so very thankful for everyone who comes to volunteer here. Each day when our Prayer and Praise sheet comes out by e-mail, staff needs are mentioned. “Keep The Homes needs in your prayers. Pray the Lord will supply staff for a Food Service Director, Kitchen Staff, Chaplain, General Maintenance Personal, Personal Care Staff, and Housekeeping Staff.”

As “elderly” begins to describe us more and more, we are discovering that we don’t heal as quickly or completely as we did even 10 years ago. I, Wanda am dealing with some serious knee problems, and Brad sprained his back in the move. Pray for patience, healing, and wisdom.

Because of Calvary,

Brad & Wanda Hull
