Dear friends of IBC,

Thursday afternoons throughout the semester I’ve been in the Senior Seminar class interacting with the six seniors pictured above. What an amazing group of students they are—and not just because my wife is one of them! The depth of thought, scholarship, and shepherd’s hearts is unlike anything I’ve seen at IBC before! But they are not an aberration; the students coming along “behind them” are on their way to the same Christlike leadership potential.
Please be praying for these six students (five of them Navajo) as they finish a lot of papers and tests over the next 10 days! Here is HOW you can pray for these six (left to right) more specifically:
Kyon Yazzie: Kyon feels called to be a missionary to Muslim and Bedouin peoples of the Middle East, probably with Frontiers. Pray for his preparation to serve overseas, including the support raising that will be required.
Josiah Butler: Josiah will be serving at Broken Arrow Bible Ranch this summer, where his parents have served for decades. Pray for wisdom for Josiah to know what is next after this summer ministry; he is considering going on for graduate studies.
Karen Begay: Karen is planning to serve two years as an IBC staff member in admissions, outreach, and office management. She is considering pursuing further education. Pray for the Lord’s continued healing work in her life as she is going through Mending the Soul (with Sarah and two other staff members) for the second time.
Sarah Koppen: After beginning as a civil engineer and then becoming a homeschooling mom (“home engineer”), my darling wife of 20 years is preparing for her third career of counseling education. She has applied for master’s studies in counseling at the Townsend Institute at Concordia University, and is praying about ultimately pursuing her doctorate so she can train others in counseling instruction.
Aaron Betselie: Aaron is returning home to New Mexico to pursue a number of ministry opportunities. Please pray for wisdom for him in what to devote himself to, as he has way more invitations to minister and lead than he can give himself to. He is also considering a master’s degree, at some point.
Tim Key: Husband and father Tim Key has been selected to be IBC’s new Fifth Wind Director, helping this entrepreneurship business grow to the next level. Pray for the Lord’s help for him as he transitions to this staff role, balancing this with his family (wife and two young sons) and local church ministry.
As you can see, these are six highly devoted young(er) people who are really committed to serving the Lord! These six seniors are the “Commencement Speakers” at our upcoming graduation. See the attached invite for information on how to join us in person or online.
We also anticipate three students getting their certificate and nine students getting their associate degree—for a total of 18 graduates! Please pray for all of these over the next 10 days.
Gratefully serving Jesus by serving Indigenous peoples,
Dr. Jason Koppen
President, Indigenous Bible College
