Greetings in Christ! This month I’m focusing on highlights from the last six weeks. Enjoy!
“Little Mermaid” Show and Cast Party
As many of you know, I’ve been engaging with my kids and the broader Christian community of Flagstaff by serving as the director of the theater
program at Flagstaff Christian School. This year we performed the Little Mermaid in April, which was an insane amount of work—but was a very quality production! David was King Triton, Lizzy and Angie were Mersisters, and Abby helped with set construction and backstage.
In May our family hosted the cast party—which included a “watch party” of the video. If you’d like to watch the recording of the show, send me an email and I’ll provide you with the link.
Christian Family Class
On May 19th Sarah and I hosted students in our home for the Christian Family class final (pictured above), continuing our annual tradition. The time included a shared meal and class debrief, which led to meaningful conversations with the students. I am so grateful for the thoughtful way these students engaged with the class and look forward to seeing their continued growth!
Lizzy’s Graduation
Our second daughter, Lizzy, graduated summa cum laude from Flagstaff Christian School on May 21st (giving a great 2-minute speech) and we have been
busy celebrating ever since! She will continue working at Little Caesar’s through the summer and plans to attend Northern Arizona University next year. Sarah and I find it crazy that we now are parents of two college students!
Student Ministry Showcase
IBC’s Celebration Weekend kicked off with a Welcome Dinner and the Student Ministry Showcase – a lively celebration of the gospel through storytelling, music, drama and art, all performed by students (and a few graduates).
This year’s showcase felt especially significant as we celebrated the publication of the fourth volume of the Indigenous Voices Journal, highlighting Core Value #3 – Incarnational Evangelism. You can access a digital version of the journal here: Indigenous Voices Journal Volume 4. This journal is an important contribution to Native ministry as we help Native young people discover how to follow Jesus in the midst of their cultural contexts.
Commencement
Graduates!
Celebration Weekend culminated with commencement and the celebration of seven Certificate graduates and four Associate graduates!
We were blessed to have Dr. Emerson Falls as our commencement speaker. Dr. Falls is a respected Native ministry leader within the Southern Baptist Convention and more recently, a member of the IBC board. Board Meeting
It is always a joy to share the events of Celebration Weekend with the amazing men and women who make up IBC’s board (pictured right, representing
five states). All six board members were able to be present in-person this year, and their enthusiasm about what the Lord is doing at IBC was tangible during our meeting time the next day! Please pray for me as I make a focused effort to recruit more board members (especially local board members) over the coming year. Their leadership of IBC is vital!

IBC Prayer Guide for June 1, 2026
1. Pray for prospective students. Four new students are accepted for Fall; eight others have applications in progress.
2. Pray that we can buy one of the adjacent homes this summer so we can house our growing student body (i.e. that one homeowner would be willing to sell to us and that the Lord would provide the funding).
3. Pray for additional qualified personnel—board, staff, and faculty members.
4. Pray for financial provision for all the staff who are raising support (or are about to start).
5. Pray for the preparations for the overseas trips to France and Israel (both in June).
6. Pray for all the facilitators and participants of the 18 Native Mending the Soul groups (14 facilitator training groups) that operated this Spring; pray for provision for the ongoing training of additional facilitators.
7. Pray for wisdom for IBC in the strategic use of the Indigenous Voices Journal that was just released.
8. Pray for protection over the students as they begin the summer.
9. Pray for the staff, particularly for spiritual and emotional renewal over the summer.
10. Praise God for all His providence, protection, and provision over IBC’s 68 years!
