Thank You!

Six teachers arrived in Hewa to start the new school year! We are very excited to finally have teachers for each grade (K-5) for our little Christian school. The Hewa villagers warmly welcomed them and have been working hard to feed them and care for them as they begin this new school year at our Yifki Christian School.

Our lead teacher, Manu (top picture, white shirt), got married to a teacher named Hazel (second pic, in Red) during the school break, and brought her back as the new kindergarten teacher. This will be our first husband-wife teaching team.

This Christmas school break, while we were constructing the second double-classroom school building, we also built a tiny house in anticipation of Manu and Hazel’s marriage. It is not quite as finished as we had hoped but it is livable so Manu and Hazel have already moved in and made it their home. We are very grateful for the many sacrificial donations that have made it possible for us to purchase construction materials to put up the first two classroom buildings and also to build adequate housing for all six teachers. We are also extremely grateful for your continued gifts to cover ongoing expenses like paying teacher wages and purchasing curriculum. It is truly amazing to see believers from around the world investing in the hearts of our village children.

While Susan and Mikenna were in the tribe over Christmas break, they held classes for the students who had an extra desire to study the English language. Attendance was good and these classes will give the students an extra boost toward excelling in their studies.

It has been an amazing experience living with the Hewa tribal people since the year 2000, and we are deeply grateful for how you have joined with us on this journey for the purpose of translating and communicating the important truths of the Bible. There have been many ups and downs on this journey, but over these last four years, as we have been developing the new Christian school, we are once again amazed and re-energized by how the Lord is already using it to impact the lives of the village children in beautiful ways. Thank you for being part of this exciting adventure as it continues to unfold.

Thank you for your love and prayers,

Jonathan, Susan & Mikenna
