Dear Friends,

Whew, the summer has flown by so quickly. The past few months have been exciting and busy. The definite highlight of the past month has been having my sister and her family here for 2 weeks! Such a precious time. I hadn’t seen them in almost 2 years and it was really special. We had LOTS of family adventures with our cousins and an amazing family reunion with most of our extended family together. Usually I’m in PNG when the family gatherings are happening, so this was really sweet for me. Plus, we had the party in my new house! Extra fun!

Just a week after my sister’s family left, I got 2 more visitors. My former co-workers Dave and Judy Wright’s two daughters came by. It was so great having them and being able to reminisce about Papua New Guinea. When Keri and I moved into the Mengen village, Katie and Amy were really little, so I’ve known them for a long time! It’s great having my PNG family living within driving distance and hopefully we can spend many more weekends together in the months and years ahead.

Now, it’s back to reality and back to work again! This week I plunged back into the book of Revelation, working on revisions and refining the final draft. I still have the books of Hebrews and John to work on, so there is plenty of work to keep me busy in the days ahead. I am thankful for continuing health and strength to do this task that the Lord has given me. One day, perhaps this coming year, the Mengen will finally have the New Testament in their own language.

Lord willing, I will be returning to PNG in January for 3 months. There are a lot of pieces of the puzzle to come together like my visa situation and also working with at least 2 different translation consultants plus my Mengen helpers. The Lord has a plan and I trust that He will bring it all together in His perfect time. I am VERY anxious to see this project complete after nearly 15 years in process. I know the Mengen believers are also very excited to hold God’s Word in their hands, so please pray with me that the Lord would allow this to finally happen after a couple of years of delays.

Several days ago, we got some heartbreaking news from our village. One of our Bible teachers passed away and went home to heaven. Gabriel (or Gabi as he is called), was married to Imelda and they have 3 little children, Joanne, Pricilla and Florian. I have known Gabi since he was a little boy and have photos of him ‘helping’ us build our house in the village. Gabi suffered from seizures over the last 10+ years and they continued to get worse and worse. I haven’t heard how he passed away, but I’m assuming that it was a tragedy related to his epilepsy. Please pray for Imelda and her children, that the Lord would comfort their hearts and use this loss to bring them closer to Himself. Almost all of Imelda’s family are unsaved, so pray that she would not get sucked away from the Lord and the comfort of the believers. Pray too for Gabi’s mother who is against the Bible teaching. We are so desirous that the Lord would use this sad time for His glory and that Gabi’s testimony would continue long after he is gone.

Thanks so much for your continued prayers for me!

Great is His faithfulness.

Becky
