Dear Friends,

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends! We had a nice family dinner together on Monday and it was great to see them again after many months apart! We have so much to be thankful for in spite of the covid pandemic.

My summer and autumn were quite busy. One exciting thing was that we finally finished the basement renovations after nearly 2 years. It all turned out great and I’m really thankful to be done this huge project! It will be a nice place for my brother if he needs it or perhaps I’ll get a roommate. We’ll see what happens in the weeks ahead.

Also, for the past several months I was able to take care of a girl with special needs a couple of days a week. We enjoyed the beautiful weather by walking around a small lake each day! One morning we were thrilled to see a doe and 2 fawns step out right beside us and most days we saw beaver and muskrats in the water! I never got tired of it and the gorgeous weather lasted all the way until Thanksgiving which was just perfect.

This Friday, my parents and I will be going to the Rockies for a week! It will be really great to be away and have a bit of a holiday. We are praying that the weather will cooperate as our first snow of the season is forecast this week! Once we get back, I’ll be job hunting again. I’ve put my resume into several places and never heard back, so I’m praying that the Lord will open up just the right job.

As for things in Papua New Guinea, I am thankful to hear news from my former co-workers on a regular basis. This week they started a new class which is teaching the believers on how to study the Bible inductively. It will be a big challenge for Simon as most of the students are literate, but their skills need a bit of work! I am praying that the Lord would continue to grow His children in their faith and that the church in Lele would mature and deepen.

One of these days, Lord willing, I’ll be able to see those friends again. However, travel to PNG is nearly impossible these days. I have friends who have been working on tickets for months and things keep falling through for them. We certainly don’t want to be in that position and I’m sure it is not recommended for us to even try to visit during these uncertain days with covid. So….our trip is on hold for now. However, the important part if that the Mengen New Testament is in the hands of the people and they are using it. God has been so faithful.

Thanks so much for your prayers for me. The big request now is that I find employment and that I can rest in the fact that God has this all under control.

Because He lives,

Becky
