Psalm 90:12 NLT “ Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.”

Thank you for your love, prayers and gifts! We are deeply grateful for your huge part in sharing the love of Jesus with the Hewa tribal people of Papua New Guinea. Thank you!

Thank you for praying with us as we brought 8 teachers to the Hewa village to begin the school year. We are thankful that despite a few hiccups, the 85 students in grade K-7th seem to be off to a good start. Please pray that our students will each grow to love the Lord and give their hearts and lives to Him for His purposes.

We were very grateful that retired missionaries, Pete and Joy Palmer, brought a team from Australia to help us start the next phase of our school construction projects. This group installed ten-foot steel posts in concrete as the foundation for two small two-story dorm buildings for the 7th and 8th grade students to begin living in this next school year. It has been amazing to see how God has been providing finances and experienced volunteers to keep the building infrastructure moving forward for the village school.

Thank the Lord with us that the elders and I were able to team-teach the book of 1 John for the first time in March. While we were preparing lessons to teach, we were saddened to hear that a young Hewa toddler died of a respiratory illness. After a few days of mourning, the church leaders decided to continue with the plan to teach the daily lessons to the village, so they taught at the girl’s grave site. This was the first time some family members heard teaching from the Word about God’s light, love and forgiveness.

Since our return to Hewa, we have been able to enjoy two new marriages (the bride with red face paint), complete with bride price payments of pigs and cash-trees. Please pray that these new families will devote themselves to the Lord and will raise their children to honor Him.

You may remember, last year at the end of July when Susan’s father died, we did not have time to hold a service with family members, but rather, we had to rush back to PNG for Mikenna to start her junior year of High School with her class. We are now planning a quick trip back to Florida where we will join Susan’s mother, four siblings, their children and grandchildren for a memorial service to honor her father’s life. Please pray for safe travels and good times of encouragement as we celebrate Charlie’s God-honoring-life and home-going.

With deep gratitude for you all,

Jonathan, Susan & Mikenna
