Thank you so much for your love, prayers and gifts! We are deeply grateful for your partnership with us in reaching the Hewa tribal people with the love of Jesus. Thank you!

We can’t wait to get back to Papua New Guinea! As we stay busy taking care of Susan’s father here in South Carolina we continually long for news from our village family. We have heard that the Hewa believers are continuing to meet together, and on top of that, they recently assisted believers from the Malamanda language group in an evangelistic outreach to a remote village where a few Hewa men live.

We recently heard through the Malamanda missionaries that the first phase of the outreach was successful and that many from that village are now professing faith in Jesus. We heard that this outreach caused so much excitement in surrounding language groups that there are men from the sometimes volatile Paiela language group that are again sending requests to our Hewa believers asking for missionaries to come live with them to translate the Bible and teach them (You may remember that some Paiela men have caused problems in our Hewa villages since we first arrived but over the last few years have been requesting missionaries for their language group). Please pray the Lord raises up more workers for the harvest in remote PNG villages.

Mikenna is now driving! We are happy about Mikenna’s progress in her sophomore year of high school here in the States and recently were excited that she reached another milestone when she obtained her driving learners permit for South Carolina.

Praise and Prayer

  • The Christian school in our Hewa village is operating but currently there are only four teachers to cover six grades. Please pray the Lord brings new qualified teachers who have a passion for the Lord and a heart to disciple kids.
  • Pray for a Hewa young man named Eyaka, who is now in his second year of medical training with hopes to go back to the Hewa village we originally worked in as a medical provider and evangelist after graduation in December.
  • Praise the lord for the successful outreach to a neighboring village and please pray the Lord brings more missionaries to needy areas of PNG.
  • Please keep praying for the Hewa believers and for their pastors. Please pray they grow in discernment and courage to lead people to surrender to Jesus.
  • Praise that Susan, while here in America, has been able to continue teaching Discovery via zoom to missionary children in PNG.

If we are unable to return to the tribe in the late summer, I (Jonathan) plan to make another one-month trip to the village to continue pressing forward with translation goals, teaching books that we recently translated, and also work on lesson revisions toward future printing. There is no shortage of things that need to be done to prepare for our next trip to PNG!

Thank you for your love and prayers,

Jonathan, Susan & Mikenna
