Greetings all,
This has been a fruitful trip. I was able to visit 5 different tribal villages along with meetings with our missionary teams working in the province. Again, I felt it was a very profitable time. Now it is time to say goodbye once again and make my way back home. I will taking a western route home this time. The middle leg of this journey from Doha to Dallas is scheduled for 16.5 hours. I have never been in a plane that long without stopping – glad I have an aisle seat! It looks to be a packed flight. It is Ramadan right now with Idul Fitri being celebrated next week. With that many people are traveling to be with family and friends. I will touch base when I get on your side of the world – hopefully I won’t forget this time.
Update:
Just want to thank you all for your travel prayers. Things started off well and departure from Asia Pacific was on time for Doha. However, while waiting for boarding in Doha an announcement came over the loud speaker saying that the 16.5 hour flight for Dallas was being delayed. I knew my connection time in Dallas was limited so I wondered if I might miss my connecting flight. An hour later after we boarded, I was relieved when the pilot announced that the flight to Dallas would be just over 15 hours – still on time.
We then began to taxi and when we were almost out to the runway the pilot came back on saying that someone on board was sick and we would need to return to the gate to get her medical help. I turned around to see a lady sitting back across the isle from me was as white as a ghost. The EMT personnel came on board and I heard them radio in that they had a 58-year-old American missionary saying she had food poisoning. I felt badly for her and hoped she wasn’t traveling alone. They were able to get her off the plane and about an hour later we were back on our way.
With the extra hour delay I was a half hour from making my connecting flight in Dallas and so was put on the evening flight which would finally get me to my destination, Grand Island, Nebraska. Jeanne and I arrived back here to the house at 12:30 last night. After 55 hours of not being horizontal it felt good to finally get to bed. I didn’t get up until 12:00! So thankful to be back safe and sound. FYI – Jeanne continues to improve from E-Coli. She still has a tinge of nausea but doing much better. Thanks so much for your prayers for her, too. We feel very privileged to have such a good prayer team standing behind us in prayer.
God Bless you,
Ed n Jeanne
