Thanks so much for your prayers. The past couple of months have been extremely busy, but a lot of fun as I’ve traveled coast to coast in the USA…literally.
In August, I spent a couple of weeks in Connecticut with my sister’s family. It was great to see them again and to meet their new little baby! It’s amazing how fast the 3 older kids have grown up and it was hard to realize that it will likely be another 2 years before I see them all again…one of the difficult realities for overseas missionaries.
My flight home was pretty adventurous, with missing one of my flights and also my luggage going astray for a couple of days! Thankfully it all worked out in the end and I had a few days at home to recuperate before my next trip! Just a week later, I travelled to California to be with my co-worker Keri and her friend Shelly. It was really great being able to attend Keri’s home church on Sunday and to meet with the Mission’s pastor for a few minutes. We have really appreciated their support for our team over the years, so it was great being able to thank them in person. Shelly and I also surprised Keri with a trip to Disneyland for her birthday, so we had a great time together as we spent a week in Los Angeles.
My parents also came down to LA at the end of the week, so I joined them in visiting family and friends for a few days. My dad’s brother turned 70 while we were there, so it was nice to be able to celebrate this special event with him. While we were away, we received word that my elderly grandma here in Canada took a fall and is now in the hospital. Thankfully she didn’t do too much damage, but it is hard to see her so frail as Parkinson’s continues to slow her down. Please pray that she would be able to sleep while in the hospital and that the Lord would give her peace during this difficult time.
Now I’m home again for the next several months before I head back to New Guinea. It has been exciting to hear all the news from “back home.”
For many years, we have been praying that the Lord would show us where our next outreach might be. We had presented the Gospel in our home village, but it has been our desire that every Mengen person would have a chance to hear about Christ. Well, over the past few months, it seems that many Mengen people in various villages are now anxious to hear the Bible teaching. It has been amazing to see their sudden interest, so pray that our Bible teachers would be able to meet these needs and that we would see many more Mengen reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Thanks so much for standing with us in reaching the Mengen people with the Gospel. Your prayers and support have been greatly appreciated.
With Praise to the King,
