Hello everyone!

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend! My weekend here was great, very relaxing and restful. Due to some sort of random allergic reaction, I was a bit under-the-weather last week. But thankfully the reaction finally went away and I am happy and healthy once again. Praise God! We also enjoyed some cooler weather last week and this weekend due to some large rainstorms passing through, but today we’re back to normal. As I write this, it is 9:00 PM and only 84 degrees, but when you add the 79% humidity, that makes for a toasty (sweaty) evening.

I wanted to send out a quick update about God’s work here in Monte Plata. The following are a few ways you can be praying for us:

  1. One of our school directors had kidney surgery this weekend. While we are thankful that she is finally out of the severe pain she had leading up to the surgery, she will be out of school for another two weeks. Please pray for her recovery and for our school as we continue on without one of our administrators. Her husband is also sick with the flu right now as well. Her name is Jaquelyn.
  2. Clase Biblica continues on Wednesday with the story of the Samaritan woman at the well. My heart has recently been especially burdened for the salvation of the girls in my class and I will be presenting the gospel on Wednesday as the Spirit leads. Please pray for our time together! This class takes place from 1:00-2:00 in the afternoon here, which is 10:00-11:00 AM for all of you Arizona friends. (For the rest of you – I have no idea what the time difference is – sorry!)
  3. Recently I have been a bit overwhelmed by the stories of our students here at the Eva M. Russell School. Our students are coming from some very tough homes and there are times when what we’re doing here seems to pale in comparison to what we’re up against. Please pray for our students. If you’d like, you can email me and I will give you the names of one or two students who need specific, daily prayer. You can read the story of two of those students on my blog: Una Maestra Con Una Misión
  4. Two missionaries from our Kids Alive site in Caraballo will be visiting me this weekend. Please pray that our time together would be restful and encouraging! Thank God for the friends He has provided me and for the support they give me! Also pray for their safety as they travel across the country on Friday and again on Sunday.

Thank you for your continued support, prayers, love, and encouragement! I received word today that three new partners joined my financial support team. What a blessing that is to me and to the ministry here!! If you’re looking for more ways to help, you can email me about joining my team, sponsoring a child here at my school ($39/month), or you can take a look at our school Amazon wishlist by visiting Amazon.com and searching for our wishlist using my email address (kristinlbarber@aol.com). Another way to support me is to simply send me a letter! Receiving word from home is always such an encouragement! My address is listed below.

In Christ,
