Greetings from Steve and Sandy Aholt,
Thank you for taking the time to pray about the new Word ministry option for us. The Papua New Guinea field council took the time to discuss our request to do Pidgin translation work, with the ABWE Word ministry, with us being based in the USA, in their recent meeting. They decided that this ministry can only be done by someone within the county of Papua New Guinea. Thus, we are not the people to do this ministry for them. We believe that God has heard and answered our prayers. We know that He always answers with what is best for our lives. We will continue on in our Home Ministry assignment of reporting to our supporters.
God has answered prayer as rains have begun after four months of drought in Goroka. The El Nino effect is expected to make the rainy season there drier than normal, extending into April 2016. This has greatly affected the food chain as there are very few vegetables and fruits available for sale in the markets. It is predicted that 10% of the population will die due to this time of extended drought.
Our travels have allowed us to visit with the Dan Thyng family. Our ministries overlapped with each other in Papua New Guinea. They had to return to the USA due to family health needs. Dan is the Youth and Missions pastor at their home church.
We also enjoyed a few brief times with our daughter and her family in OH. Their schedules are beyond busy. Aaron works full-time and takes classes online to get certified to teach elementary education in the OH school system. Stephanie is working as a pharmacist assistant at CVS Pharmacy. Please pray for their family during these very busy times of school and work.
We have reported to twelve of our supporting churches and are presently in Michigan City, IN enjoying the beautiful fall colors. Evergreen Baptist Church surprised us with a dinner, anniversary cake and a card shower as they celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary day with us on the 11th. This is where Steve was born again, our children were born, and where God called us into full-time foreign missionary ministry.
Thursday, we will be driving to Grand Rapids, MI where we will be visiting MKs from Papua New Guinea. We then travel on to North Adams, MI for a church dinner on Saturday evening. We will be with First Baptist Church through Wednesday of next week.
October 25th we will be back in Greensboro, NC followed by North Side Baptist in Charlotte, NC on the 28th. From there we will be driving back to Kansas City, MO for meeting in that area through the winter months.
Thank you for your prayers as we continue to labor for Christ until He returns or calls us home!
Listening for the trump and praying,
Steve and Sandy Aholt
