Greetings from Arizona,
I wish you and your loved ones a special Christmas season filled with joy, peace and hope. With both of my parents now in heaven, it’s been a strange end of the year with the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

This year was our first Kitchen family Thanksgiving with just me, my siblings and their families so we gathered together in Indiana for the weekend, which was so special. It had been probably 30 years since we were all together. We traveled to Brown County, Indiana from Northern & Central Indiana, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Northern & Central Arizona. It was an amazing time with lots of fun!!
For Christmas I’ll be with my sister and her family in Phoenix. We’ll be making the traditional family cookies, stollen and great food along with jigsaw puzzling, game playing and enjoying the time together soaking in family memories.
Fall Semester
The first semester of the Indigenous Bible College (IBC) school year was a huge success with an incredible student body. I had a fantastic group of sophomores in the Principles of Verbal Communication class, who learned a lot, grew tremendously and were wonderful to teach. Pray that they will always use their “servant speaking” skills effectively!
After 3 ½ months of Life Coaching (LC) one of the freshman women, Molly (name changed), I’ll reflect on the growth I observed in her, even in only one semester. Molly moved to Flagstaff with her husband and 3 kids to attend college for the first time. She’s been a follower of Jesus for 13 years and wanted to become more equipped to live out her calling to minister to others. She had been working 7 years in a rehabilitation facility, helping many in need in her community, as well as leading Bible Studies.
Throughout the semester, Molly was like a sponge absolutely soaking up all that she was learning. She devoted herself fully to what it meant to be a part of the IBC student body, even though it took some adjusting as it was quite different from her former life. She shocked herself with getting high grades which compared to high school 20 years ago was a complete turnaround for her. I remember at our LC meeting during week 9, Molly told me that she’d like to begin driving back to the reservation on Thursday nights to begin implementing all that she’d been learning. I said that she was just over half way through her first semester [she plans to pursue her Bachelor’s degree] out of the 8 semesters in the curriculum. She was a bit shocked with how much she had already gained from being here at IBC. We discussed how she can begin using what she is learning right now with neighbors and others here in Flagstaff, which she’s currently doing. Praise God! Please pray for Molly’s family members who do not yet know Jesus personally.
Urbana 2025
Twelve IBC students and staff will be participating in the USA Urbana Student Missions Conference in Phoenix the last week of December. This is an every other year event held in different places around the country. Having Urbana 2025 held in Arizona allowing IBC folks to participate is a huge blessing! Please pray that each attendee grows in their faith and leadership skills, is inspired to live fully for the Lord and to shine brightly while following God wherever He leads.
