Dear Friends,
Even though I am not present to help in this ministry, my heart is blessed to see the Adult Literacy Promise Land Ministry, Papua New Guinea- Yonki Eastern Province– open and running. Students are learning with Joyce and her two helpers-Grace and Lydia.

Most of the students are at Level O- which means they are unable to read or write. Because there are no Christian Literacy materials in the native Language, Joyce is using English and converting to Tok Pisin. In the picture, you will see on the board the English and then the Tok Pisin. “The dog -Dispela dok”. I would also like to mention some of the students walk 2-3 hours to come and learn. Now that breaks my heart, to know there is no one in their village to teach them. It warms my heart to know these students will not only learn to read and write but will also learn about the love of Christ!!
Please continue to pray for Joyce, the lead instructor, and her two assistants, Grace & Lydia, that God uses them in a mighty way to win many to Christ. Pray for the safety of the students who walk 2-3 hours to learn as there are demonic forces alive and well who want to prevent the Gospel of Christ from being heard. Pray they will learn quickly and accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, and they will not get discouraged. The following passages come to mind as I type this, Jesus told the parable of the sower in Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, and Luke 8:1-15. Pray what is sown in the hearts of these adult students will fall on good ground and a plentiful harvest will come to fruition. Pray for those who walk 2-3 hrs will continue to come each day and they will see God’s blessing upon them.
The classroom is furnished with tables several of you gave toward. I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Joyce has the classroom decorated beautifully. This too is a result of the monies that have been given to make this happen. Even though I am discouraged by not being there, I am encouraged to know this restart of the Literacy Ministry has God’s blessings on it. Pray for those who have given towards this work will one day reap the rewards Christ has for them when they stand before their Lord.
I am still waiting on my visa. I was told this week it is being vetted but no changes in the last 3 weeks. I ask all who read this update will pray for my Visa to be granted. Also, pray that God will show me any areas of my life that need to be corrected. I don’t want to be the reason my Visa is being held up.
