GOD’S WORD IS STILL BEARING FRUIT
Hi,
We were happy to see a story posted on Facebook recently from the Sepik region of Papua New Guinea. It was so encouraging to us so we wanted to pass it on to you. I went to West Sepik with some national teachers to teach a group through the Creation to Christ series of lessons. The invitation had come from a Church group that wanted their leadership to be taught the lessons so they could teach them to others. If my memory serves me well, about seventy-five men and women attended that ten-day course. After that course, many stayed on for the five-day teachers’ training course. The people were thrilled to hear all that God had done to provide salvation for them and they wanted to share the good news with others. About a year later, a missionary from another organization sent me an email asking me what we had taught during those courses because the church had some alive and were so different than they were previously. That was sweet to our ears!

The post on Facebook was from a faithful servant of God who had attended a similar course a few years later. He and others who attended have been passing on the truth they had learned and these photos represent a sample of those who have been affected by God’s word. People in other areas of both East and West Sepik Provinces are being impacted in the same way. The books they are holding are ones we translated and had printed. You can only imagine how happy it makes us feel to know that our work was not in vain.
Many people were involved in our translation of the New Testament in the Elimbari language, and many more were involved through the years of seeing the Bible Lesson books translated and printed.
Many men and women have been touched by the truth of God’s Word through the years. Thank God with us for all of His faithful servants in Papua New Guinea who are passing on the truth without pay or recognition. Their reward for now is to bask in the knowledge that their work has borne fruit. But they will receive a great reward in the future.
It has been over three years since we retired from PNG and our hearts are eternally rejoicing that we were able to be a small part of strengthening the Church there. We have some opportunities to teach here as well.
When we retired, our income from churches and individuals dropped considerably. We understand that and are not trying to elicit funds by writing this. However, we have started a couple of websites to provide some income. One is for my artwork through the years, moutfineart.com, and one is selling items for dogs, tailwaggersupplies.com We invite you to take a look at those sites if you care to do so.
We have been healthy and are approaching seventy-eight years old in January and February. Thank all of you who have been a part of our lives in some way or another through the years. Our son Tom and Melanie are expecting their first granddaughter and will be flying to Senegal West Africa to be with Dustin and Brittany and grandson Callum to be a help during that time. Their departure is November 23rd. In October, we had a great visit from our daughter Lydia, her grandson Lyrik, and daughter Grace from Michigan. God has allowed us to lead a small Life Group from our church. We meet to discuss the sermons, fellowship, and pray together.
This is getting kind of long so we will sign off.
Love,
Jim and Kathy Tanner
