Although it is not yet officially summer, according to the calendar, the first triple digit temperature of the year—102 degrees arrived this week. Hot!

We have traveled quite a few miles in the last couple months enjoying the Lord’s handiwork in the scenic Northwest along the way. Early in the month of May it was wonderful to be able to share the ministry of Ethnos360 at First Baptist Church in Gold Beach, Oregon. Great to visit and reconnect with many folks we hadn’t seen in years! Two other trips were made to the west side of the state for memorials services. One of the services was for a good friend of ours, Becky. She was a wonderful ambassador for our Lord Jesus Christ. The other trip was to Diann’s home area, Long Beach, WA, for her uncle’s memorial. A sad occasion but it was good to see family and friends.
We have seen about a 30% increase in the number of applicants who have applied to train as career missionaries this year over last year. We also hit the 100 mark of young people signing up for short-term mission trips. Ethnos360 short-term trips earned the certificate of excellence after being assessed by an outside organization called Mission Excellence. You, your group or your church can learn more about the trips offered on the Ethnos360 website. Use your phone camera for the QR code to check out these short term trips.
For the Associate program there will be 14 new Associate Members joining the Ethnos360 team with ministry destinations being Papua New Guinea, West Brazil, the Philippines and the USA. Please pray for these folks as they raise support, attend the Pre-field Orientation in Florida, make their travel arrangements and say their goodbyes. It has been a pleasure to work with these individuals through the application process over this last year.
News from Papua New Guinea. Rick and Anji Zook, along with Mouk church elders, minister to the Lusi people of Papua New Guinea. “Rick is working with the team as they learn to write Bible lessons for 1 Corinthians. … Pray that God would encourage and sustain [Mouk Bible teachers and their families]” as they minister to the Lusi church. “Pray for the Lusi believers as they hear teaching on 1 Corinthians. [Pray] that they will learn what it means to relate to each other in love, building up each other. Pray that God would be preparing the guys he wants to be elders of the Lusi church.” Pray for unity. Rick is the son of our former co-workers Mark (now with the Lord) and Gloria Zook.
Our car continues to run well and we are thankful for that. PTL! Also, there have been some unexpected dental needs come up in the last 3 months. Please pray we would get the incurred expenses taken care of in a timely manner.
Thank you for being a part of our team through your prayers, gifts and friendship.
Dave & Diann Yunker
