Hello everyone!

It is with a mixture of sadness and excitement (OK – mostly excitement!!) that I write to update you all today. Today is my last full day in the United States for quite some time! I will be leaving for Cremona, Canada (northwest of Calgary) tomorrow morning. When I arrive I will head to River’s Edge Camp for two weeks of Cultural Orientation for Personal Effectiveness training (COPE). This training is run by Wycliffe Bible Translators so most of the missionaries will be associated with their organization. However, there are 4 of us Kids Alive International missionaries who will be training with them, along with some other missionaries from other organizations. I am so excited to meet all these incredible people and hear their stories. Please pray that we are able to form encouraging and edifying relationships in such a short amount of time. I spoke with another missionary named Alex yesterday who will be joining me at training and then will be serving in Monte Plata with me with Kids Alive. He left for Canada today and I know he would also appreciate your prayers.

Another thing you can pray for is my insurance situation. My insurance paperwork has been delayed in processing due to some unforeseen circumstances in the home office. They should finally be processed on Thursday, but that leaves me without international insurance for Sun-Wed in Canada. Please pray for my safety. I am not worried about this, but I know that Satan would love nothing more than for something to happen that would delay my departure to Monte Plata or that would require large amounts of money to be fixed. Thank you for praying for this.

I found out today that I am able to receive mail while I’m away at training in Canada! I am only in Canada through the morning of Saturday, August 24th. So if you choose to send mail, make sure you send it with enough time for it to get to me in Canada before I leave! My address is below:

I hope I will be able to answer emails sporadically while I’m at training and I so love to hear about what God is doing in your life and in your family! Please feel free to respond to this email and keep me posted on your life as well! Thank you for all your prayers and encouragement, everyone. You are a huge part of this journey!

In Christ,
Kristin Barber
