Greetings from Steve and Sandy Aholt,
Steve called yesterday afternoon to confirm our flight for this morning and he was told that the flight was cancelled. We were rescheduled for the early morning flight.
Readjusting our schedules this morning, with the help of Steve and Gretchen Root to assist us, got us on the morning flight. We arrived safely at our destination around 7 PM this evening.
We are scheduled to go tomorrow morning for diagnostic testing and then to see the doctor on Friday. Thank you for your prayers that the tests are done well and that the doctor has wisdom in the decisions that he makes. The doctor will decide on further procedures to follow next week.
Sandy has her eye tests and other physical testing done on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Steve will probably have surgery on Thursday.
Steve has been working on the aircraft inspection following the sale of the airplane to the new owners. Sandy has been busy preparing for our seven week medical stay.
The other day our electrical power in Goroka was off for 40 hours. Sandy was busy paring down our refrigerator and freezer items for our extended medical trip. The power is averaging being off 5 hours each day. We just heard tonight that the power company is planning for a worker strike.
The main boss for PNG Power was fired for alleged corruption, misappropriation of funds and allowing the bank account to fall to a negative K35,000,000 balance. It appears that the extended power outages have been leading up to this strike – possibly to try to get the boss hired back.
Life on the mission field! It doesn’t get any better than this.
Listening for the trump and praying,
Steve and Sandy Aholt
