Living in the Power of the Resurrection
Our Easter prayer for you from Ephesians 1: 19 – 20: “I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, . . and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead . . .”
This is the end of the third quarter of our fiscal year. It’s a time to rejoice in what has been achieved and to push ahead to areas that still need work. Here are some significant numbers we can share with you and praise God for: Our partners are working to develop the skills of nearly 2,000 church and community leaders. Their transformation programs are engaging over 4,200 community participants. Nearly 2,000 people are being discipled and 500 school teachers are receiving training in Christian worldview and better education methods. Praise God with us for the incredible work of that our partner ministries are doing in Christ’s name. Pray that they will finish this fiscal year with continued excitement and enthusiasm for the work to which God has called them.
Saying Goodbye to Friends/Colleagues
Jose Magloire came to join the Sous Espwa team shortly after the earthquake in the Spring of 2010. Her assignment was to help our partners manage the relief projects in their communities and then later to train partners and communities in how to prepare for and prevent future disasters using the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) model. Jose has worked tirelessly to achieve these goals and many people have been helped through Jose and the partners’ work. Praise God! Now as the program is coming to an end, Jose’s time with us is also coming to an end. Although she will remain in Haiti, she will be missed at our Sous Espwa office.
Lesley Millar first came to Haiti from Canada in 2007 as a volunteer for one year auditing several of our partner’s financial books and then assisting them in following the recommendations. After that first year, she began working with Back to God Ministries International and CRWM in opening up a Follow-up Center for the French Language Radio Ministry. After four years of administering this ministry, several capable and passionate staff members are taking on the leadership. Praise God! Lesley will be returning to Canada with her husband, Diego and two beautiful children. Please pray that God will meet all their needs and help them adjust to this new chapter in their lives.
Thank you for partnering with us!
Love, Howard, Ruth, Natasha, Micah and Malieke Van Dam
