Greetings from Steve and Sandy Aholt,

Thanks to each of you for your faithful prayers and financial support of our ministry. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Our furlough has been extended by six months for us to raise additional support. We are still short about $550 per month. Please pray for God to supply this financial need by December.

God has answered your prayers about our health. Sandy’s glaucoma situation has remained stable and her eyes have experienced no new changes. The Lord be magnified. Steve has had another clear check-up, with no new cancer spots appearing. The timeframe for rechecks has now extended from six months to twelve months. The Lord be magnified. We praise the Lord for the health that He has given to us, so that we are able to continue in ministry for Him.

We are amazed to see how God has been directing our steps. He made it evident that our ministry in Papua New Guinea was closing. Steve is not able to continue in the ministry that he was so intricately involved in, due to problems with lingering effects of carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands.

God has opened the door for Steve to pursue his passion. He has been asked to do editing work on two different Pidgin translation projects. Pidgin is the trade language of Papua New Guinea. There has always been a need, but there was never enough time to be involved full-time. Steve really enjoys sitting at the computer sometimes 8 to 9 hours a day studying the scriptures and checking translation work. This work is tedious and seemingly endless, but it is something that Steve enjoys doing. Please pray for wisdom and continued good health so he can continue in this work – to the glory of God!

One of these translation projects involves editing Good Soil material for our ABWE Papua New Guinea field council. The other project is editing a Pidgin Bible translation for Bibles International. There is a team of trained Papua New Guinea nationals who have been working on this Bible translation.

Sandy has a meeting scheduled this week to check out the possibilities of a new ministry for her. This will involve working with girls and young ladies. Sandy would appreciate your prayers about this.

We have been invited to take part in a round robin missionary conference, scheduled in Minnesota, during October 16-20. We will be in a different church nightly in each of these towns: Wadena, Brainerd, Fergus Falls, Sauk Centre and Sartell. Please pray for us as we travel and minister in these five different churches.

September 22 will end another really busy summer for us, as we will welcome in the fall season. We are living at the house that was built in 1939, where Steve was born and grew up. This move has required much cleaning, sorting out, fixing up and upgrading as the house was pretty much the same as when Steve moved away and married Sandy in 1975. Being caretakers of the homestead has been a big blessing and a huge challenge. Our spare time is consumed by this new “hobby” that we have taken on for now.

We thoroughly enjoyed two weeks with our grandchildren in Columbus, Ohio. We have to admit that it was much fun, as we have never been able to spend extended quality time with Coralee and Zane. The children stayed with us, freeing the family to do some things that they needed to do. Coralee has now moved up to middle school, grade six, and Zane has advanced to grade four. Zane was baptized on August 7th. Please pray for each of the children to be a witness for Christ as they face daily challenges in their schools.

Listening for the trump and praying,

Steve and Sandy Aholt
