Giving thanks from Steve and Sandy Aholt

We give thanks for the many blessings that God has given us this year. You are at the top of our list of things to give thanks for. God will not forget your work and labor of love, that you have shown toward his name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do continually support us through prayer and giving (Hebrews 6:10).

We give thanks for the good health that God has given us. We still have numerous doctor visits, but these visits are to help others with transportation, who need to go to the doctor. We are active in visiting the fatherless and the widows in their affliction, and keeping ourselves unspotted from the world (James 1:27).

We give thanks for nearly one hundred people who have desired to be better parents. We volunteered to get training and have taught Intentional Parenting classes:

Parents must strongly believe that they have incredible influence on their children as a 24/7 role model

Regularly using positive encouraging words, with genuine affection, develops a bond of love with your child

Make sacrifices to be consistently present. This will create a shelter from the storms of life, within your home

Delicate discipline is guidance with love, backed up by consistent consequences; this develops the child’s responsibility toward healthy independence

Plan for positive memories that includes laughter and fun (i.e., family traditions; vacations; outings; special events); take photos to remember these time

We give thanks for being able to serve together on the Spiritual Care Team at church. This has given us opportunities to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2) through counseling and prayer. Our goal is to help people who are far from God become passionate Christians who make a difference in the world.

We give thanks for our church where we can use our talents and abilities that God has given us. Steve has helped do some editing work on church teaching materials. His plumbing experience is also utilized in different ways.

We give thanks for family and friends who we can spend time with at the gym and at various other activities. May you find ways to give thanks for all that God has done for us. “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Listening for the trip and praying,

Steve and Sandy Aholt
