Dear family and friends,
There are several things that I would like to bring to your attention. We sure would appreciate your prayers on our behalf.
In August 2025, I (Wanda) saw my primary doctor for clearance before my second knee replacement surgery. An EKG taken in the office showed some irregularities, so my doctor referred me to a cardiologist. After further testing and an increase in my cholesterol medication, the cardiologist cleared me for surgery. The surgery took place in October 2025 and was successful. I try to do my physical therapy exercises at least twice a week.
I now have regularly scheduled visits every 4 months with my cardiologist. In early June I went for my most recent visit. My doctor was concerned about some of the symptoms that I have been having. He added another cholesterol medication and wanted me to get a heart catheterization. I have one scheduled this month.
Update!
Dear family and friends,
My heart catheterization yesterday went well. There were no major blockages and therefore no need for any stents. I was able to come home in the evening. I will be off work for a week. I will be on light duty and with lifting restrictions until July 28th. I will see my cardiologist for a follow-up visit sometime next week. Thanks for the prayers on my behalf. God is good! All the time!

The cardiologist also sent a prescription to our pharmacy for some nitroglycerin pills which I need to take if I have any serious heart pain. The heart catheterization is an outpatient procedure. There is a possibility that I may need one or more stents which would be determined during the procedure. In the meantime, I am trying to take it easy and not overexert myself. Please pray for me to have peace as I wait. My desire is that I would choose to trust my loving Heavenly Father as I go through all of this. Please pray for a successful procedure on Monday morning.
Joe
Brad and I are now both on part-time status. We are still working at our jobs. Brad is in the process of training Joe to take on his office responsibilities. Joe arrived here from Papua New Guinea several weeks ago with the idea of taking over Brad’s office job in the coming months. There is a lot of training that needs to be done. Joe seems to be well qualified to do the job and is catching on quickly. A new computer has been ordered for Joe but has not yet arrived. That has delayed some of the training. Once Joe is trained, Brad will volunteer to do other jobs here at The Homes. Please pray for Brad as he instructs Joe and for Joe to take it all in. It will most likely take 2 months or more to complete this training.
Currently I have 12 people on my housekeeping staff. This includes part time staff, an employee, a summer intern, local volunteers, and some retirees. As the supervisor, I keep track of all the ladies and make sure everything gets done. It is a big building. It’s great to have a team to help keep our Latham Center in tip top shape. Of course, having so many on the team is not ideal. Please pray that God will meet our need for 2 or 3 full time staff who enjoy cleaning and would like to serve others in this way.
