Mikenna graduated from high school!!! It has been such a joy to watch her grow into a wonderful young woman, and we are excited to see how the Lord will lead her as she begins Bible school in August. She is currently practicing for her driver’s license test and has applied for online college summer courses. Thank you for praying for her as she starts this journey into adulthood in a country that is new and different from where she grew up.
After Mikenna’s graduation, we left PNG and arrived at Susan’s mother’s house in South Carolina. Sadly, she suffered devastating effects from a stroke on top of her terminal cancer and is now confined to bed.
Susan, along with her sister and two brothers, is caring for their mother at home. Our hearts are torn for the dear mother we love, but we are thankful she is not showing signs of pain or distress. We are comforted in knowing she will soon be in the arms of her loving Savior.
Update: It is with deep gratitude for her life and faith that we announce the passing of our sweet mother, Mary Louverne King. She has gone to be with the Lord, and though we will miss her greatly, we rejoice in knowing she is now resting in her Savior’s arms. The picture above was taken recently.
We will miss our village friends during our year in the States, but we are encouraged to see them growing in their faith. They are now able to oversee their own medical clinic and school in our absence. The church elders recently finished teaching through the book of Colossians for the first time and have begun a new study in James. Please pray for Faimpat as he continues to lead the outreach to the village of Fiyawena and is currently teaching the book of Ephesians. We are hearing good reports of hearts turning to the Lord there, and we are excited that He has opened the door to restart the public school in their village.
We plan to stay in the States for a full year for our home assignment. We are not sure how long we will be in South Carolina with Susan’s family, but later we plan to go to north Idaho to spend time with my parents.
