Current Ministry

Since leaving Caborachi, I have been located in Chihuahua City. My ministry has changed 4 times during the past 6 years. Most recently I have resumed Tarahumara language study, still with hopes of helping with the translation of the Scriptures. Four years ago the Lord opened up two other avenues of service: the Puppet Ministry Team and the Brickyard Ministry.

God’s Little Rascals, as we call the Puppet Ministry Team, is composed of missionary kids who have a desire for evangelism and fun. From the first year we have witnessed God providing all our needs and giving us strength, ingenuity, improvisation and courage to overcome difficulties. (Try keeping a stage from blowing over in 35 mph gusts of wind!) We haven’t seen much fruit, because it is an itinerate ministry. But this past year the Lord was gracious to show us that He uses the puppet presentations as a catalyst to enhance a church’s ministry or to encourage other believers.

The team has grown and shrunk from year to year, but the doors of opportunity are more open than ever! Recently the Mexican government has begun a service project to poor communities around Chihuahua and has invited the evangelical churches to keep the people occupied while they wait in line. God’s Little Rascals is hoping to be part of this city-wide outreach!

The Brickyard is an impoverished community just north of Chihuahua City where many Tarahumara Indians, as well as Mexicans, earn a living by making bricks by hand. A couple of independent missionaries began this outreach to the people of the Brickyard in 2002, and when they left, Scott and Diane Hudson (UIM) and I continued it, with the help of some Mexican students from the missionary training.

Over the course of the past four years, the Kidz’ Klub has grown from 15 children to 45+ at times. Some ladies have begun coming out to be taught Bible lessons, and one family of Christians is being discipled by a Mexican family from a local church. God has used us to help the community in material ways as well as spiritual: a school for the children, adult education, quarterly medical and dental clinics, and provision of clothing, blankets and food.
