Greetings from Arizona,
Here in Northern Arizona, we should be experiencing the most intense part of our winter months, however, since October we’ve only had a TOTAL of 10” of snow. We are hoping for much more moisture in the coming months but it looks like a dry season in the forecast, unfortunately, which isn’t encouraging with wildfire season looming. Pray for snow!!
Spring semester
The first 6 weeks of the semester at Indigenous Bible College (IBC) have gone well. We have one new student, Buffalo, making 23 full-time students on campus, while there are an additional 17 part-time students who mostly join class online.
I’m teaching 2 classes this semester – Personal Finance (6 freshmen students) and Lifetime Fitness (4 students – Freshman – Senior). Please pray for the entire student body that they’ll engage fully with their student responsibilities with assignments, part-time work and growing in their relationship with the Lord and one another.
NAE DC Trip
At the end of January, 2 of our Graduate Staff and 3 IBC Seniors had the privilege to attend the week-long National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) convention in Washington, DC. They joined Christian students from all over America, representing evangelical Christians to congress and were able to hear the Biblical prospective in immigration, sanctity of life, and more.
The NAE team shared about their experience during chapel, including:
- Visiting the American Indian Museum and meeting students from Universities all over the country.
- They were encouraged to consider an approach to politics being to see the “broken hearts” in politics meaning politicians are people with different upbringings but all human with brokenness. They can serve politicians through heart transformation.
- Meeting with 7-10 Senators, some of whom were Believers. They attended some of the senate meetings and the conversations “humanized them”.
- One IBC student was able to pray over Georgian Senator Warnock.
- They attended some congressional meetings and the Committee on Indian Affairs at the Navajo Nation Washington office. They were able to ask a Native Staffer, assistant for the Senator from North Dakota, to learn what they are doing about the bill regarding boarding schools and for Native people.
- When wondering if Natives have a voice “on the Hill”, they understood the answer is YES!
- Visiting the Washington Monument & National Museum of African American History and Culture.
- Being convicted of having a responsibility to speak, whether it’s local, at college, in a National way, etc.
The team finished their trip by visiting the Museum of the Bible and the Capitol. Please pray that the team members will continue to process and grow from this amazing experience, as well as developing their “voice”.
ABHE Self-Study
Please pray for the team of people working hard to complete the 2025 version of the self-study required by the Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), which includes:
1. Compliance Document (with Regulatory Requirements Evaluation)
2. Assessment Plan
3. Planning Document
4. Statistical Abstract
5. Exhibits/Appendices
They are wrapping up several 100-page documents and more to be submitted the first week of March.
