Reports from Papua New Guinea have been good. Many believers have been trained to teach the Word and have hearts to do it regularly. They battle adversities, but remain faithful servants.
One Church elder called us from PNG and gave us an update on his English ministry. He lives in a city and many of the people are educated in English so he has started teaching through the Bible Lessons with comments from those who are learning like; “We have tried to study the Bible in English before, but it was difficult for us. Now we have a clear understanding and our English is improving too.” So far, he has trained 14 teachers to help teach all those who desire to know God, or to know Him better.
Our kids, grandkids, and great grandkids are all spread out so we don’t get to see them very often. Sometime this year we’d like to take some trips to visit the ones in Michigan and Florida. We’d also like to visit many of you. Thankfully, we have Margie and her two daughters living next door to us.
We have had very dry weather here for nearly 5 months. Thankfully we’ve had some good showers recently. We’ve been busy putting in a garden this year, and most of the plants are doing well so far. We also enjoy the flower garden and plants we’ve planted.
We thank God for those who have been faithful in supporting us through the years. We spent three and a half years in mission training, served fifty-one years in Papua New Guinea, and continue serving the Lord. I thought I could work part-time to supplement our income, but no one seemed to want a seventy-nine-year-old man with a resume of working at one job most of his life. God has been faithful and we know He will continue to keep an eye on us.
Prayer Requests:
1. Praise for the completion of our last project. An Outline and Introduction of the Old Testament Books (In Melanesian Pidgin English for Papua New Guinea)
2. Pray for general good health. At the age of 79, we’re finding out that we can’t do all the things we used to do.
3. Jim is a co-leader of a program called Re-Generation being conducted once a week at our church. The participants attend to find help in overcoming addictions. Pray God will do His desired work in their hearts to become more like Christ.
4. Wisdom to know if we should tackle another translation project. We have been given permission to translate The Commands of Christ a workbook to study through His commands in the Gospels.
5. Our support level has been decreasing as some donors are no longer able to help, or have passed away. Pray for an increase.
6. Pray that we can visit family and supporters more this year.
Much Love,
Jim and Kathy
