Pastors’ Seminar in Manus Province

How thankful we are for many things. Word is getting out that we have Bible lessons printed and available for sale, and we are getting more and more requests to hold seminars to teach people how to use them properly. This month we have one in the province of Manus, pictured in dark red on the map to the right. We’ve never been there before, but it seems like God’s timing to allow us to get acquainted with pastors there. Pray that the sessions will go well. We have invitations to hold pastors’ seminars in October and November in the Southern Highlands Province. These are more remote areas and the pastors say that they need help. Next year, we were asked to teach in a training center for couples who want to be involved in full time service outside their own tribes. They know how to do church planting in their own languages, but want to reach beyond their borders. Pray for God to rise up the right couples, to see the Gospel go out to more places.
We just heard from the printer in N Ireland that they are starting to do the layout of the volumes of lessons we sent them. We may have them here by the end of the year. We have been able to send advanced payment for about 50% of the cost so far.
We’ve just finished translating the first draft of a book for pastors/leaders/elders/teachers, etc. It will be a great resource as it covers the qualifications, characteristics and practical steps to serve the Lord well. Not sure when we’ll get that one printed.
While we were in Port Moresby, we were asked if there was a series of the chronological Bible lessons in simple English (they found the American English at bit difficult). We told them we don’t know of any available, but it made us think that this could be a chance to make the truth of God’s word understood in a clearer fashion, so we started a project to translate the lessons into simple English and add PNG illustrations to help combat animistic thinking that is never far from the surface. Pray for this project.
Tom, Melanie and two of their boys are part of the staff at the Missionary Training Center near Camdenton, MO. They just arrived, so please pray for their transition. The campus is full, so they have to find a house to rent in that area.
Kathy was trained to take over the finance office again. Don’t know how long she’ll be doing it. Pray.
