New Year Greetings from Steve and Sandy Aholt,
Sandy and I rejoice in what God is doing in and through each of our lives. We are so grateful to be a part of your ministry in reaching the lost and building Christ’s church in Papua New Guinea. You continually demonstrate your loving kindness as you reach outside of you circle of influence and make a difference in the world for the Lord.
We are thankful and humbled by your love for Christ to the people of Papua New Guinea. Your love has been expressed through your continual prayers and steadfast financial giving to support the work of Christ through us. God put His love in our hearts that has overflowed into the lives of the people of Papua New Guinea for over twenty years. This love has been multiplied many times over. We see this same love flow from the hearts of our national brothers and sisters in Christ and into their families and friends.
Our initial work, when you partnered with us to begin a Baptist church in Bundi, has multiplied. We have seen the members of Bundi Baptist Church establish six additional churches that are ongoing today. We have helped several churches through their first ordination council of a full-time pastor.
God has been doing the work through our joint efforts over these many years. The Word of God is alive and powerful. We know that God is preparing us to do even greater work for His glory. God has sent us home early for medical reasons, but we know that He is not finished with us yet.
Everyday life is difficult in Papua New Guinea. These twenty years of labor for Christ have taken its toll on our bodies. Yet all these things are accomplished that through the thanksgiving of many, much glory will be given to God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day (2 Cor. 4:15-16).
We are now being restored in body and renewed in spirit to continue in our labor for Christ. Thank you for your continued prayers and support through these times. Our plans include first, being restored to good medical health. Second, we will begin scheduling and reporting on our work, to each one of you, so we can rejoice together and continue to give glory to God.
Listening for the trump and praying,
Steve and Sandy Aholt
We have come home early for medical reasons. Steve just completed his two initial doctor appointments. The first appointment was to check him for any new cancer concerns. The doctor could not find anything of significance at this time. Praise the Lord! We will continue check-ups every six months for the next two years.
The second appointment was for a complete physical examination. The initial blood work came back with satisfactory results. Steve is having symptoms of carpal tunnel in both hands. His right hand is more advanced than his left hand. The left is just beginning to show signs and symptoms. His right arm also has symptoms of tennis elbow. This has lingered for nearly two years now. Steve is on a prescription medication for this.
We are waiting for the doctor to schedule nerve testing to determine what is going on. The surgical procedure for carpal tunnel has a six week recovery time. Steve may require surgery on both hands. If that is the case, this will run us up to the end of March. At this point, however, we have not been schedule for the testing that is necessary prior to surgery.
Thank you for understanding! We anticipate scheduling a date to report to you at a later time.
