Dealing with the Diagnosis

Intro

Are you battling cancer? Have you been diagnosed with another life-threatening illness? Let me tell you about my story.

In December 2004, I had my ovaries removed. To the surprise of all medical personnel involved, the pathology report showed it to be cancerous. This news was quickly followed with a new Oncology Gyn doctor and a full hysterectomy. After some second opinions, we decided on a course of four rounds of chemotherapy. The third session was too much for my body, so the fourth session was canceled. We were delighted the ordeal was complete and I had a good chance of being cancer free. The appropriate scans were done to begin a “watch” to quickly catch a Intro_01return of the cancer. Unbelievably, more cancer was found with this scan. I had cancer in my kidney. Another doctor, a Urologist, was added to the list and so began the next stage of the journey. Another surgery was performed to remove the cancerous kidney. Now, finally I was on the road to recovery. After many months of rest, healthy eating, and exercise, I am feeling great and learning to apply the lessons I learned. This is just a short synopsis of my story–to read more, click here.

Thanks for the privilege of sharing my thoughts with you. I pray you will be blessed by this site. Because I feel closer to the Lord I am grateful I had the the opportunity to learn these lessons. It is my prayer that as you read, you will be encouraged. But my greatest hope is that you read God’s word and grow much closer to Him.

Psalm 66:9, 16 He has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping. Come and listen, all you who fear God, let me tell you what He has done for me.

I also wanted to include many Bible verses that spoke to me during this battle. I know God’s words are powerful and will heal and guide. In this way you will be helped, even if my words don’t touch you or help you during this hard time.

Psalm 78:4 Tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power and wonders he had done.
