Wishing You a Blessed Christmas Season!
Dear family and friends,
Another year has come and gone once again! We would have to say that the highlight of our year was our visit to Peru in January to see our beloved Geoff and Tina – we had such a fun and special time- not only enjoying a late Christmas together, but also celebrating Tina’s BD, and our 40th anniversary as well – it was very very special time for all of us!!
Geoff & Tina keep plugging away there in Peru – they started off this term with four team-partners, and now as of the end of this year it will be back to two – a wonderful Bolivian family and Geoff & Tina. So this has been a tough term for them in many ways, with many ups and downs – times of discouragement, but also times of encouragement – God is faithful, and they trust Him to be their help and strength in their work there. And I know that they count on and appreciate your continued thots and prayers for them, for their team, their small church group, and their Peruvian and Quechuan disciples and friends there.
Once again Ed has had two safe and profitable trips to Indonesia – and we thank the Lord for His safety and protection over Ed in all his travels and endeavors there. This 2nd trip was especially gratifying in that they were able to accomplish the final checking on the book of Genesis – this is the accumulation of many many hours and much work on the part of our team and the translation checker as well. So we truly praise the Lord that another book of the Bible can be put into the hands of the Wana believers!
As for our parents – Jeanne’s mom has been staying pretty well. She did have a short stay in the hospital the end of May due to a heart arrhythmia. They were able to get it back in rhythm finally, and this resulted in a change of medications for her, which have to this point been working well for her, so that is a praise on her behalf. Ed’s mom has been having some trouble with arthritis but thankfully still able to get around and enjoy different community and church activities. Ed’s dad stays as active as ever and he and Ed enjoyed some fun times fishing on the lake this past summer.
All around us these days we see the words of Scripture coming to pass – turmoil is world-wide – and as we watch we wonder many things: are we truly getting into the end days? What is going to happen to our own country of America? Why do people seem to be so blind and refuse to see the truth in what is happening all around them!? How can this be – it is amazing to us. But this is when we must truly believe that God is not taken unawares, He is not amazed at the disbelief – on the contrary He is fulfilling His word and His plan that has existed since the beginning of time. Even though the world around us seems to be colapsing we do not need to fear – our lives are wrapped in the palm of His hand. As in Luke 2 when the angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds saying: “Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tiding of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Likewise, we should not fear, but only look to our Savior Jesus Christ – we can rest in peace in the promises of His sovereignty in our lives. So as we worship Him and His coming to earth to be our Savior this Christmas Season – may we rejoice and be glad, and have hearts of gratitude and thanksgiving!
We wish each of you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS season this year, and also a wonderful NEW YEAR in 2015!!
With love from our home to yours,
Ed and Jeanne
