Dear Team Members, April 1st, 2015
Our love to you from sunny Florida with some beautiful spring weather
Teaching English as a Second Language each week is fun, a challenge, and a privilege as we seek to equip these dear folk to survive here in the USA and in the years to come. I (Cherrie) am a helper to a head teacher for the beginner class. Since we are teaching under the umbrella of a Church, we are able to incorporate Bible truths for which we are thankful. I am often asked to teach the verse for the week. With Easter being this coming weekend, our verse for this week is from Mark 16:6 and what a verse that is!!!
Yes, Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and was buried. BUT He is no longer in the grave – He arose from the dead.
WOW, what a TRUTH to convey to our students!!!! Please join us in prayer for each of these precious students that each of them will put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and become His child!!!!
I (Charlie) teach 2 different classes for English as a Second Language: one is literacy (a reading and writing class) on Tuesday nights, and the other is a Conversational English Class for Advanced Students taught on Wednesday mornings. The Tuesday night class is for a couple of ladies who do not read and write their native Spanish language or English language. It is a challenge to teach them. The Wednesday class is normally an English vocabulary lesson with a newspaper article followed by a discussion and some English figures of speech. In both classes we also go over a Scripture verse each week and make application to them. Thanks for being a part of this with us by prayer.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of our lives. God Bless you so much :o)
Over the last two weeks, five folk we know have gone home to be with the Lord. Others we know are struggling with bad health. Sometimes it can be an overwhelmingly sad feeling as one loses those they love and care for, BUT then we are reminded from God’s Word that “-to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8. What an encouraging promise for His children
As we celebrate Good Friday and Easter Sunday this weekend, may we rejoice in our Great God and Risen Savior!
With our Love,
Charlie & Cherrie
