Dear Friends,
Returning to America after 51 years in Papua New Guinea has been quite an adjustment we call “reverse culture shock.” We are so thankful for all of you who have prayed for us and it seems like we are nearing the end of our re-entry.
It has taken tons of work, but our humble house has been extended and is feeling more like home. After the building and painting were all finished, we started getting out some of our things from Papua New Guinea i.e., knickknacks, paintings, photos, and artifacts. It’s nice having some familiar things around us.
The spare bedroom which we had been using as a dining room was changed back to a bedroom and has been an art room for Jim’s painting projects. Jim is continuing the translation of Bible lessons in the Prophets. Currently, he is in Isaiah. Pray for wisdom and steady progress.
Kathy has had a few medical procedures since we returned and we trust that the next one on September 9th will be the last for a long while. She will have the stint removed from her bile duct, and come home the same day. Please pray for her.
It is wonderful to get reports about people in PNG using the Bible lessons and seeing the fruit that God bears through His Word. God willing, we should see the second volume of Course 5 printed in Pidgin English as well as the first volume of Course 5 in plain English printed by the end of the year.
On the last Sunday of August, we joined a local church. Pray that God will continue to use us here. Thank you for being a part of our team in the Gospel ministry.
In Christ’s love,
Jim and Kathy Tanner
