Dear Special Ones,

How we thank the Lord for each one of you!!!! Your Love, Prayers, and Care for us mean sooooo much to us!!!!!

REFLECTING BACK ON THIS YEAR

We were unable to fly to Australia, as planned, so we used the tickets the airline would not refund, to fly out to Kansas from February 11th to the 22nd to see our son Ray, his wife Janelle and their family as well as a supporting Church there. Then the door opened with a different airline, at a better price, to fly to Australia on March 16th to see our son Ben and Stephanie and their family for ten weeks. Then in July, our daughter Esther and Ricky and family were able to drive down from Ringgold, Georgia for three nights. SOOOO, WHAT A YEAR IT HAS BEEN!!!! EVER SOOOO THANKFUL to see each of our children, their spouses, our seven grandchildren (1 was out of the country) and three great grandchildren ALL THIS YEAR!!! Jet lag coming back from Australia took its toll and we are only now feeling we are over jet lag, but we still tire easily. They say “Going West is Best” but “Going East is a Beast!”

Our granddaughter Llahna, in Australia, got engaged to Zac Minnis, a missionary kid, whose parents work in Indonesia with our Australian NTM. They plan on getting married next March, but we were able to enjoy their happiness while there!!! Since we got back, Ben’s oldest son Jayden got engaged to his girlfriend Sarah which is also GREAT!!!

We did not get to see Ashton, Ben’s second son as he is in the military and was stationed overseas. He is now back in Australia. The fun part was we could talk and see him on their Iphone!!!! Their youngest son Kyan will finish year ten at the end of the year and will start an apprenticeship in carpentry. I had fun getting him started collecting worldwide postage stamps, which was fun. Connecting with all our children, their spouses, and grandchildren, and great grandchildren has been AWESOME!!! THANK YOU ALL FOR THE PART YOU HAD IN THESE TRIPS BECOMING A REALITY!!!!!!!!!!!

Now we are settling back in where God has planted us!!!! There has been an urgent need for volunteers here at our retirement center, so Charlie is starting to help more at the receptionist desk in our Assisted living building. He enjoys that, and having worked there for five years, as the business advisor, is a help.

What an encouragement it is knowing WHERE EVER HE PLANTS YOU AND US, WE CAN BE USED, NO MATTER OUR AGES!!! PLUS, like my friend Dee Koop, who was SUCH A PRAYER WARRIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since the retirees are getting older here, some near 100 years old, there is a saying that living here is like a launching place to Heaven! It is hard to see those we have become close to pass away, but we rejoice as they graduate to GLORY TO BE WITH THEIR SAVIOR WHO THEY LOVE AND HAVE SOOOO FAITHFULLY SERVED. Recently my close friend Dee passed away. She would have been 93 tomorrow, and was SUCH A BLESSING AND PRAYER WARRIOR!!!!!!!!! She PRAYED for us and our extended family, always asking how they are doing and even remembering their names!! WHAT JOY THERE IS KNOWING THAT “ABSENT FROM THE BODY, BUT PRESENT WITH THE LORD”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AGAIN, WE THANK THE LORD FOR EACH OF YOU,

Charlie & Cherrie

It is not unusual for me to have a song going over and over in my heart. This is a recent one:

I’D RATHER HAVE JESUS

I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand

Refrain:
Than to be the king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin’s dread sway;
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.

I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;
I’d rather be true to His holy name

Refrain:
Than to be the king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin’s dread sway;
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.

He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He’s all that my hungering spirit needs;
I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead

Refrain:
Than to be the king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin’s dread sway;
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.
