Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Dear Friends,

Well, this crazy year of 2020 is finally nearing an end and what a year it has been!!

January to June, I enjoyed teaching English as a Second Language here in town and meeting people from countries all around the world! Although the job ended in June, I have been able to continue my friendship with most of my former students. What a blessing they have been to me!! What started out as a job has turned into a ministry as I seek to share God’s love with these new friends.

Please pray especially for a young woman from Korea as I seek to start a Bible study with her in the days ahead. She was recently married and neither she nor her husband understand the message of salvation.

Pray also for a couple from Mexico. A few weeks ago, I gave them a copy of The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus which clearly explains the Gospel from Creation to Christ. Please pray for this couple and their 3 children, that they would desire to know the Lord. I will also be giving books to a refugee family from Africa. They have 4 children and have been here in Canada for just over a year. Please pray that they would also come to a knowledge of the Savior.

I desire that these precious friends of mine would know how much God loves them and has provided a way for them to be free from their sin. This is the true meaning of Christmas!!

July to December, throughout the summer and into Fall, I enjoyed taking care of a young woman with special needs. A couple times a week, we would go for walks around the lake and enjoyed watching the beavers and pelicans! It was a beautiful and relaxing time and I thoroughly enjoyed it. At the same time, I was looking for a full-time job. I had applied to 15 different positions without luck and was starting to wonder what I should try next.

Thankfully, a friend I have known for 27 years put in a good word for me! Just yesterday, I was hired to work at a senior’s complex here in town! It sounds like it will be a very interesting job, with many diverse things to do throughout the day and I am thankful to the Lord for this opportunity. Please pray for me as I start on Monday, that I would quickly learn the ropes and that I would be a blessing to those around me!!

Becky and Mengen friend. Becky helped translate the Bible into the Mengen language.

The Mengen Church— in February the Mengen New Testament arrived in Papua New Guinea. The Lord allowed the books to arrive on one of the last flights into the country before the shutdown! Praise the Lord!! My former co-workers the Flanagans, remain in Lele village and continue to faithfully teach and disciple the Mengen church.

The Flanagans say that the Mengen New Testament is being used daily in church training, church meetings, youth meetings and Bible studies. The believers are also doing weekly memory verses and have implemented a daily Bible reading plan, all using the Mengen Bible. What a joy to know that the teachers and believers have God’s Word in their own language! Please pray that the Mengen church would continue to grow spiritually as they read God’s Word for themselves. Pray, too, that they would be faithful to reach out to their friends and neighbors. There are still 1000’s of Mengen people who do not know that Jesus came to earth as a baby and that He lived and died to save them from their sins!

I am so very thankful for this Christmas season as we remember the birth of Jesus. He came as the Prince of Peace and will bring peace to our hearts if only we would let him. These are turbulent times, but one day soon, Christ will return to earth to take His children home to be with Him forever! What a day that will be!

May the peace of Christ rule in your hearts and lives as we head into 2021.

Waiting for the sound of the trumpet,

Becky
