Dear friends,
Greetings from the two of us!
October turned out to be quite a month for us. On October 13, Jeanne’s 101 year old mom was not feeling so well and running a fever – we thought it was probably a UTI. The next day they ran Covid tests at the care center which revealed that she was one of many that had contacted Covid. She was already in a weakened state as she has not eaten anything for months and only surviving on a little bit of “Ensure” and fruit juice each day. Thankfully it did not go into her lungs but just caused a fever, aching, and weakness. Amazingly she has come through this as one of the survivors! It has definitely taken it toll on her though and has left her more weak than before. We can only visit her from the outside standing on the porch, looking through the window, and using a white board. Sometimes they will crack the window which enables us to hear her answers and that is always appreciated. We as thousands of others are experiencing what it is like to not be able to be by a loved ones side in these days which has been difficult. We sure appreciate your prayers.
The work with the Wana continues in spite of the Covid restrictions. Our airplane is allowed to service our villages at 2/3 capacity for passengers – which means it can only take 6 passengers instead of the normal 10. This last month we were able to send a youth team into one of our villages. While they weren’t allowed to hold large meetings they could meet with the kids in smaller groups in homes, visit their parents, and the church leadership. We plan to send the youth team into another village the end of this month for the same purpose. Our Wana team has also been able to continue on with Literacy and also Bible curriculum development and happy to see the progress on this. We are currently finishing up the formatting on “Creation to Christ” lessons for new believers and should have that finished this week.
Besides this we are also working on Bible lessons for a number in the Old Testament books for more mature believers – currently working on doing revisions and corrections on lessons for the book of Genesis, and working on rough draft lessons on the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. Some years back “Faith Comes by Hearing” recorded the complete Wana New Testament using native speakers for all the characters. They have recently developed an App which allows us to download this recording along with the written Scripture on the Android phones, so as they listen they can follow along with the written Scripture on their screens! We are just now in the process of getting some small SD cards in order to copy and get distributed. So always lot of irons in the fire it seems – but all very exciting!
We do want to take this opportunity to thank you so much for your prayers for us and our ministry with the Wana people.. As you pray we would appreciate your prayers for the Lord’s will to be done in opening up the country to travel once again. It is my desire to begin making trips again in March if the Lord opens the doors to do so. Thanks so much for being a part.
May God Bless,
Ed n Jeanne
