What next?! The lostness, restlessness, anger, and despair of our world becomes more and more obvious by the day. How I wish I could make more of a difference in some of those desperate and lonely lives!
So much has happened since my last update! I want to send you a link again so you can access the commencement services from May 23. It is a long service but, now that it is prerecorded, you can watch pieces of it rather than the whole thing at one time. We ended up doing commencement virtually, in person (with social distancing and masks), and as a drive in service. Here is the link if you would like to check it out:
The student testimonies (instead of a commencement speaker) are the best! (They start around 1:05:00.) The Student Ministry Showcase is poised to go on YouTube sometime later this week. I will send a link to that as well, Lord willing. The recital was partially live, partially virtual. I watched virtually from home. It went remarkably well.
IBC has continued to be involved in relief efforts for the Navajo, Hopi, and now White Mountain Apache Reservations. The Navajo relief efforts will be winding down in the next week and a half. I have been traveling out to Gray Mountain, Arizona (about 40 miles north of Flagstaff on the border of the Navajo Reservation) every weekend since May 2nd, taking one to four students with me most weekends. As of today there are 5,533 positive cases of COVID on the Reservation, resulting in 252 deaths, so the numbers are still rising, but the funds have been pouring in from the federal government ($600,000,000!) and relief will no longer be necessary. We hope to be sending out a IBC newsletter soon with more exciting information on relief efforts and on how we are using the IBC campus to reach out to Native youth this summer. Stay tuned!
Please keep praying for God’s work in and through His servants at Indian Bible College—both staff and students. Let me know how I can pray for you too. And THANK YOU again for your faithful support that just keeps on coming no matter what the situation in our country is! I praise God for you! God continues to supply for IBC in miraculous ways as well.
Gratefully,
Martha Gushee
