Dear friends and family
This week I was able to start teaching again. We had checked the translation and lessons up to the middle of Romans 6 which put us 4 lessons ahead. I am now just teaching one lesson a week but teaching it twice to make sure they are getting it. This week I taught chapter 5:6-11 which teaches God’s love for the weak, the wicked and His enemies. A bit different than our love.
Sevis’ wife, Misisi, surprised me this week. Wednesday night I asked them the question, “Did God send Jesus to die for those who have changed their behavior?” Everyone said “Yes” but Misisi said, “No.” Jesus didn’t die for good people but sinners. Thursday night I went through the lesson again but asking a lot of questions to get an idea how much they are understanding. I was asking questions like, “What kind of people were we?” “Did God still love us?” “If so, what did He do?” “What should be our response to what He did for us?” Misisi’s answers showed a clear understanding of salvation even though she had not been to the earlier teaching on the gospel.
Please pray for Robert and Ekesue. They showed a lot of keen interest in earlier teaching but lately they have been only coming to the teaching occasionally. They didn’t come again this week but we had suspended the teaching for a few weeks so it may take them a little while to get used to the idea that I am teaching again 😊. Dolis (Dorris but usually pronounced Torlees) is growing in leaps and bounds which is encouraging. Pray that God will give them a hunger for His word.
