These words would be the apt descriptor for our summer! We were blessed to have Ryan with us twice over the summer months, once in Costa del Sol, Spain and then in Bratislava. We are so grateful for the extra time we’ve had with him since he’s been living in Europe. We’ve had many other guests come to Slovakia, including several colleagues, Elise’s Aunt Norma and Uncle William, the missions pastor from FBC, Weatherford, OK – Tracy Ward, and eleven pastors from Mississippi. There has been lots of travel in Slovakia as well as our annual meeting with the International Mission Board in Amsterdam, Netherlands for nine days. Whew!

This summer has also brought a change in leadership in Europe with our former supervisors retiring from the IMB after 29 years of faithful service. Mark and Susie Edworthy have been our supervisors for the last 10 years and our new bosses are Jacob and Elisabeth Boss! We will miss the Edworthy’s but are thankful for God’s direction in providing new leadership for Europe. We will also take on new leadership over the team in Krakow, Poland, in the absence of the Edworthy’s.

We are thankful for a great start to our church plant in the area of Bratislava called Ruzinov. God has brought many guests who are now regulars throughout this summer. Our team continues to meet together every two weeks for planning purposes; we are thankful for the unity we share and passion to see God’s Kingdom expanded in Bratislava and throughout Slovakia.

Kate is now six months old and we love having Skype calls with her! We can’t wait to get our hands on her this December and help her celebrate Christmas! We are so thankful that our daughter-in-love, Dana, has chosen to be a stay at home mom and give her full attention to Kate’s well-being.

  • Pray for wisdom and guidance as FBC, Weatherford, OK and churches in Mississippi are considering partnering with new churches here in Slovakia.
  • Ask for God to give leadership and direction to Jacob and Elisabeth as they seek to lead IMB personnel to further reach Europeans with the gospel, to become disciples and disciple makers, and to begin healthy new churches. Remember us as we seek to help and encourage them in this new role.
  • Remember us as we begin to lead Team Krakow. Pray for us as we travel there September 17-19 to get to know this team better and help them move ahead in unity and in the strength of the Lord.
  • Ask that God would continue to add to the body of believers at our church plant in Ruzinov and that we would bring Him glory and honor in all that we say and do.

Pray that Kate continues to develop well and comes to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Also, remember Dana’s adjustment from being a high school English teacher to being with Kate.

Even though there are times when you don’t hear from us, please know that we so appreciate your love, support, and prayers on behalf of us and our family. We CANNOT be effective in our lives and ministry without the prayers of the saints. May the Lord continue to bless you, keep you, and give you peace.

In His Love,
Trey and Elise
