Thank you so much for your love, prayers and gifts! We are deeply grateful for your part in reaching the Hewa people with the love of Jesus. Thank you!
We are very grateful to the Lord that a translation consultant was recently available to review and approve another set of chapters so they can now be added to the expanding Hewa New Testament. Thank the Lord with us for the completion of John, I&II Peter, more chapters from Matthew and Luke and also the entire book of Revelation. We are pleased to report that we have now past the 68% mark for completing the NT. Thank you for your love and prayers and gifts all these years that has made this progress possible!
We are also grateful to report that our co-worker, John George, along with his family came to Hewa for ten days in July to teach the book of II Timothy to the church elders. Those men did a great job using John’s lessons to team-teach through the book, and we were encouraged by their continual hunger for God’s Word and their desire to help the believers grow in their walk with the Lord. We are also grateful that although John and Jesi can no longer live in the tribe due to health challenges, John continues to work on lesson development and teaching.
Susan continues to teach school every day to eager students, but since we know we won’t be able to live in the tribe more than another year we ask that you pray the Lord will send a Godly teacher to Hewa who can continue to teach school after our departure. We feel a good school is important aspect in the further development of this tribe and if taught correctly will help the students improve their cognitive thinking skills that will help them succeed in their rapidly changing environment. We covet your prayers as we explore possible options, especially that the Lord would send someone with godly principles.
Please continue to pray for progress in translation, and also a continued hunger for a deeper walk with the Lord here in the tribe. As the believers try to take a public stand for righteousness it has caused some people in other Hewa villages to criticize and try to find fault with their lives, so please pray for growing courage and passion to know Jesus and to reflect His precious teachings like love, service, grace, repentance and forgiveness.
Thank you so much for your love, prayers and gifts!
Jonathan, Susan & Mikenna
