Spring Greetings from Steve and Sandy Aholt,
Thank you so much for your faithful prayer about our ministry. Thank you also for your promise of support that we trust will carry us through until October. The mission will allow retirees to receive some additional funds to purchase furniture and a vehicle. However, those funds must be available in our account for us to have use of them. Please pray with us for wisdom as we make retirement decisions.
Many of you have asked if we are still in contact with people in Papua New Guinea. Our answer is, “Yes!” Social media and the internet make it very easy to keep in touch with many friends. Some of you ask if we have plans to go back. Our answer is, “We do not have any trips scheduled, but we have learned to never say never.”
Daily, we are in contact with nationals who are rejoicing in what God has done. They also are seeking advice about decisions they are making in their lives and ministry. The Papua New Guinea (PNG) government is making changes to their laws that will disallow volunteer missionary work in PNG. We believe that one day soon, volunteer missions will cease to be as they have been in the past. Please pray for the Christians in PNG to stand strong in their faith so that their churches will stand strong against this evil world. Having done all – to stand.
There is another woman in our Aqua Fitness Class whom we will call M. M has come to us with questions about the joy and peace that she sees in our lives. She asked, “Why are your lives different?” We were able to share with her very precisely what it is to be a Christian. It is not enough just to know all of the facts. She needs to understand that Jesus died on a cross as the penalty for all of our sins. She needs to acknowledge that Jesus died to pay the penalty of her sin. She needs to tell Him that she believes what He did and accept Him as her Savior (John 3:16). This is what makes a person a Christian. M has many marks of Christian character in her life, but we cannot do anything to add to what Jesus did. Jesus paid it all! All to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain – He washed it white as snow. Please pray for M’s salvation.
We are planning to start an Aqua Fitness Class group meeting in our home. This will allow us time to get to know the people better and to share our testimony with them in a group setting. We hope to begin this before the end of June. Please pray for much spiritual fruit from these meetings.
We never knew all that was involved in retirement. We are seeking advice from many people who are knowledgeable about health insurance. Please pray for us to have wisdom as we make decisions about ministry in retirement and what health insurance to choose.
Please pray for good weather and good buyers on May 31st for Sandy’s cousin’s estate auction following his death in December. Google Iman Auction and go to Steve Yoakum estate for details.
Our daughter’s family has never been to our house here in Missouri. We are living in the house where Steve grew up. They are planning to come for a visit June 8 to the 18. Please pray for safety as they travel and as we spend time together.
We are praying for you as we are listening for the trump,
Steve and Sandy Aholt
