Dear friends,
We have completed the introductory section of Romans where Paul introduces himself, greets the Roman Christians and gives an introduction to the gospel he preaches. There is a lot of interest in the teaching right now which is a bit frustrating as I am teaching believers and when people come in who haven’t heard the teaching before I wonder how much they are understanding.
Last night the house was packed and I was getting frustrated. I was trying to do a review of what we had learned in Romans so far but all these other people, who hadn’t heard any of the lessons, were there. So I ended up just reading Romans 1:16 and 17, where it talks about the gospel being the power of God unto salvation to all who believe, and left it at that. Afterwards I was feeling like things weren’t going very well but then I realized that God was creating this interest right at his point where the next few lessons are about God’s wrath against sin and His provision for us through the death of Jesus. Please pray that God will use these lessons to bring conviction of sin and that they will put their trust in the provision God made for them.
I am not the only one who has been frustrated. The government has started working on our road but we have been getting so much rain that it is impossible to do anything with it and the road is just getting worse.
This month I am a ‘gofuta bomo’ (bachelor). Wendy is down in Brisbane looking after her sister-in-law, who has a brain tumour, and her brother, too, of course. They’d appreciate your prayers as well.
With love from
David for us both
