Dear family and friends
This week started off a bit disappointing. Tuesday night it rained so we had the lesson in the house and only three of the regulars were there. It was the feeding of the 5,000 and we went over the story again next morning before we went into Jesus’ confrontation with the Pharisees. Again a poor turnout. I used a very nice saucepan and muddied it inside. I showed them the saucepan then got them to look inside. This was to illustrate how God looks at us, He looks inside our hearts and sees our sin. That day was the ‘State of Origin’ and that is very big in PNG and people get drunk and go crazy. I think that this pulled a lot people away from the teaching.
I taught on the Good shepherd that night. Jesus is the only way into God’s fence. If we want to come to God we have to come through Him. After the lesson a lot of people came into the village to watch the State of Origin but the TV didn’t work. Next morning was the raising of Lazarus. A better turnout this time and encouraging. There was a good response to Jesus’ assurance to Martha that He is the giver of life so He is able to restore it. He is not only the giver of physical life but spiritual life. The old man, Papaso, was very clear in his feedback through this lesson so that was encouraging. But Robert and Ekesue didn’t come at all this week, so please pray for them.
Pray for us this next week as I am hoping to get to the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus. We will see how that goes, I may need to go over some of it the following week or stay longer to make sure they are clear in their understanding.
With love from
David and Wendy
