Dear family and friends,

“Wherever you are, be all there. Live life to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God.” (Jim Elliot)

Brad and I want to “be all there” wherever God leads us. We both work in the Latham Center. This building was named after Lance (Doc) Latham. In 1942, four men met together and started New Tribes Mission. One of those men was Lance Latham. “New Tribes Mission shall encourage potential candidates for foreign missionary service. They shall be chosen upon evidence that they have a consistent passion for souls, are soul-winners at homes, and have a firm grasp of the fundamental doctrines of the Word of God. New Tribes Mission’s efforts shall be directed toward those fields where no other missionary effort is being made and where no witness of the gospel has yet reached.” The first New Tribes Mission missionaries bound for Bolivia boarded the boat to sail on November 10, 1942. The team consisted of ten adults with six children. By the time they reached their final destination where they were going to be missionaries, they had already led 100 people to the Lord! You can read the complete story in “Founded, the Heritage of Ethnos360”. This was published to celebrate the recent 75th anniversary of New Tribes Mission (1942 – 2017).

The Latham Center is a large one story building which is the residence for a total of 29 retired missionaries and two 2 single staff ladies. There are 3 residential wings in the building. Residents in two of those wings are independent. There are also 8 rooms in the Assisted Living Facility (ALF) wing of the building. The 2 staff ladies each have a small one bedroom apartment, complete with their own kitchen. The other residents have an apartment with a bathroom, walk-in closet, and a bedroom/living room area. The retirees all eat “home cooked” meals that are prepared in our commercial sized kitchen. A nursing office is manned by our personal care staff from 6:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. seven days a week. The staff ladies living in the building are available through the night if emergencies arise.

I spend my days working in the Latham Center. I clean resident rooms in the ALF and the independent wing of the building as well as some of the common areas. There are 26 resident rooms, 2 large lobby areas, a reception area, 6 public bathrooms, 2 laundry rooms, 2 nursing offices, an exercise room, library, conference room, chapel, as well as administration, finance and chaplain’s offices. In other words, the Latham Center is a VERY large building. It takes quite a crew to keep the place clean and looking nice. Brad is the finance manager for NTM Homes. This means he comes up with the yearly budget, pays the bills, and takes care of everything having to do with money for the entire NTM Homes property. His office is also located in the Latham Center.

Praise:

  • The NTM Homes budget for 2018 has been approved!
  • We thank the Lord for each person who receives this letter. Thanks for your part on our team!

Please pray:

  • We desire to be missionaries in Sanford, Florida. There are many needy people in our own country and specifically in our local area.
  • We need to balance work, church activities, spending time with friends, and relaxing.
  • We need to prioritize and spend our time doing things that will count for eternity.
  • We desire to have a renewed passion to know our Lord better and to walk in step with His Spirit.
  • Pray that we will “live life to the hilt” (for His glory).

By His grace,

Wanda (and Brad) Hull
