Dear Friends,
Thanks so much for your prayers throughout this last year. I just wanted to give a quick update on how the Lord has answered prayers and what is coming up for me in the days ahead.
PRAISE: After months of taking medication for Multiple Sclerosis, I have gotten the all-clear from my neurologist to return to Papua New Guinea for the next 8-9 months. I have to be back in May for another MRI, so I’m grateful for this window of time to be able to complete my translation work.
PRAISE: The Lord went before and worked it out for me to get a bulk supply of the medication to take with me. This is not normal procedure, so it seems a bit miraculous. Praise the Lord.
PRAISE: I have been able to purchase plane tickets and am set to leave Edmonton on September 8.
PRAISE: Lord willing at the end of my 8 months in Papua New Guinea, the Mengen New Testament will be completed. It really seems surreal and I’m pleased, relieved, excited and anxious!!! My Mengen friends will be so thrilled and I can’t wait to see this precious gift placed into their hands.
PRAISE and PRAYER: The Mengen church continues to grow and expand, with outreaches happening in several locations. Please pray for the Mengen missionaries and church leaders as they often bear heavy loads with discipling the believers and teaching several times each week.
PRAY: Please pray that the translation would continue to be clear and accurate in the Mengen language. In the months ahead, I will be finishing up these books: Matthew, John, Hebrews, James, 1-2 Peter, 1-2-3 John, Jude and Revelation.
PRAY: To see the New Testament completed will require a lot of work from myself, my co-workers, my Mengen translation helpers and also our mission translation consultants. Please pray for everyone involved, that the Lord would give strength and wisdom.
PRAY: Please pray for my health, that I would have the energy to work long hours each day. With MS comes extreme fatigue so I will need to pace myself. I have also been having a lot of vision issues related to my MS, so pray that as I work on the computer, I would not have headaches or eye pain!!
Many have asked me about my future plans, and at this point, I really have no idea. I am just taking it one step at a time. Once the translation work is completed in PNG, then I will need to have it formatted and sent to the printers. Hopefully that will just take a few months. Eventually I would like to return to PNG for the Mengen Bible dedication service. I assume this will take place at the end of 2018. So…for the time being, I will continue in my work trusting the Lord to reveal His plan for me when the time comes.
With Praise to the King,
Rebecca Preheim
Isaiah 41:10, 13
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you,
Do not fear; I will help you.
