Isaiah 46:3-4 “Listen to me…I created you and have cared for you since before you were born.
I will be your God throughout your lifetime—until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.

 Dear friends,

Thanks so much for your prayers for me during this latest chapter of my life. This time last year, I was at Hoskins and was working hard on the Mengen New Testament translation, never guessing that the Lord had a bit of a detour for me! As it turns out, for the last 10 months I have been working on the Bible translation from Canada instead of Papua New Guinea.

Praise the Lord that I have been able to finish drafting all the remaining NT books. It was a HUGE job but they are now ready for the final stages of the translation process once I return to PNG. I have also spent a lot of time going back through the books we have previously translated, just checking on punctuation and spell-checking etc. Since a number of these books were done 10+ years ago, it has been a lot of fun just reading back through them and smoothing them out a little bit more.

During this time at home, I’ve had started taking a new medication for Multiple Sclerosis. I’ve had to have my blood tested once a month for 6 months just to make sure that the medicine is not having any negative effects. I am VERY happy and thankful that so far everything has come back clear. I have just one more set of labs to go, and after that I should be cleared to return to Papua New Guinea. Praise the Lord.

There have been several major hurdles for me to overcome before being able to return to PNG. The big one of course has been the bloodwork and it seems like the Lord has truly helped me through that. Another huge obstacle is being able to get a large supply of the medication to take with me overseas. The Lord has also answered that prayer, and the MS clinic has agreed to supply me with 9 months worth of medication. This is not something they would normally do, but they have been incredibly helpful and have gone out of their way to make this work for me. Little do they know, but the Lord is using them for the sake of His kingdom!!

So…Lord willing I will be heading back to Papua New Guinea early in September. I would appreciate your prayers for me as I go. One major request is that the Lord would give me strength and stamina to finish this task that He has given to me. I have found that the MS has certainly sapped my energy but in order to complete the remaining New Testament books in the next 9 months, I will be putting in long days with my Mengen translation helpers. Please pray that the Lord would also give strength and wisdom to my Mengen friends, as we work together to see the New Testament completed in their language.

I have been so blessed through your faithful prayers and support for me during the last 18 years in Papua New Guinea. Thank you so much for standing with me in this ministry!

With Praise to the King,

Becky Preheim
