Dear Friends,
Thanks so much for your continued prayers and support. I am very happy to report that I was able to finish drafting the final book of the Mengen New Testament this week! God has been so very faithful. This doesn’t mean that the Mengen New Testament is ready to print as there are still many steps to bring this work to completion. However, to me this is the biggest step, so I’m very relieved and happy. What a great day it will be for my Mengen friends to have the New Testament in one book! They have been looking forward to it for a long, long time.
Lord willing, I’ll be able to return to PNG in September. Just this week I was able to talk to the nurse at my MS clinic. To my astonishment, I was informed that I will not have to have another MRI this year. In fact, if I am feeling well and I have no more obvious MS flare ups, then I’ll be able to wait until next summer before I’ll need to have another MRI. This means that if I am cleared to return in August, then I’ll have a good long stretch of time to be able to be back in PNG. I had been wondering how I’d do 9 months worth of work in 6 months, so this has come as a real answer to prayer. Of course, there are still many hoops to jump through, the main one being how I’m going to be able to get this expensive medication while I’m living overseas. For now, I’ll just take it one step at a time.
Even though I’ve now finished one project, I still have quite a bit of work to keep me busy. I’ll be going through all the “book introductions” for the Mengen New Testament and making sure that they are finished. They are kind of basic at the moment, so I’ll take some time to flesh those out. I also want to go through all 4 Gospels again. There are many overlaps in the various stories, so I need to make sure that they are all consistent especially with the various Key Terms.
I’m sure looking forward to seeing my Mengen friends again. It was hard to leave them in September without being able to say proper goodbyes! Please continue to keep the Mengen believers in your prayers, that they would be faithful to meet together and to walk with the Lord. I haven’t heard much news lately, but I know that all the Bible teachers must be tired, especially those who are living in the various outreach villages. Please pray that they would have wisdom as they lead the flock of believers. Pray too that the new believers would have a hunger to know the Lord and to grow in their understanding of Him.
Thanks again for standing with me in this incredible ministry. To God be the glory, great things He has done!
