Let the season begin! The Basketball season, that is! We’re looking forward to the holiday season as well, but we are REALLY excited about Bret’s new Basketball season at ETBU!! The first game is on November 15th and we will be watching at 11 pm that evening! Just look for Michael Jordan’s number and you’ll see Bret! (www.etbusports.com) Pray that Bret will be able to keep up with the rigors of both studies and basketball as this will entail a lot of travel. (Oh, and a girlfriend is in the mix now, too!) Ask for an injury free season as well.
Ryan and Summer are adapting to their new home of Dalian, China and we are so thankful for all of you who have been interceding often for them. It’s definitely not been an easy adjustment, but God is meeting their needs for friendship and familiarity there. Ask that they would continue to feel more settled and excel in their new environment, online studies for Summer, and teaching for Ryan.
Trey and Elise were able to go back to Zagreb to visit colleagues there and see some of Elise’s old friends. It was SO GOOD to be back! It had been two years since we had been back and that was when Ryan did his internship at the American Embassy. We also had a trip to western Hungary to visit colleagues while accompanying two men within the IMB (International Mission Board) who help connect volunteers from churches in the States to our teams in Europe. It was a very beneficial trip for all involved!
We really enjoyed having Trey’s parents in our home and showing them around Bratislava for five days! Trey’s brother’s (Dave) fiancé, Andi, was able to join us from Hungary for a few days, which added to the wonderful time together! The weather was beautiful and we always love having family and friends visit us. Come on over!
We will be traveling to Czech Republic and Poland to visit colleagues in the next month and would ask you to pray for safety and mutually encouraging visits. Also, pray for the high school and university students that we continue to meet with in Bratislava and ask that they would take the next steps of obedience to Christ and His desire for their lives.
These are exciting days for our organization and we would appreciate your continued prayers for David Platt and the leadership team as they begin to make some organizational changes in order to mobilize churches and the IMB to bring the good news of Jesus to the unreached in the world. ‘And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.’ (Matthew 24:14 NIV) Pray that we would be able to lead the personnel in Central Europe to be ready for these changes.
With Our Love,
Trey and Elise
