Dear friends and family,

It has been awhile since we have caught you up on our family and ministry news, so here goes…!

Thanks so much for praying for our sons and daughter-in-love as they have all undergone much transition in the last few months. Ryan and Summer have found the learning curve for Chinese culture and language to be quite steep! Ryan is teaching in two Universities approximately 15 hours a week and Summer is doing well with her online classes through CBU (California Baptist University). Pray for their continued acculturation and specifically for a girlfriend for our daughter in love.

Bret has adjusted well to ETBU (East Texas Baptist University) and is really looking forward to basketball practices starting on October 15th. Ask that he will be diligent in his studies and for protection from injury as basketball intensity ramps up.

We are so excited about the newly elected President of the IMB (International Mission Board), David Platt, and appreciate your intercession as our organization has searched for this man of God…for such a time as this! Trey attended IMB leadership meetings in Chiang Mai and Bangkok, Thailand for almost two weeks in September and David Platt brought his leadership and preaching skills to the meetings in Chiang Mai. Please ask for wisdom for David Platt and the IMB as we go through this time of transition and ask that all would be done for God’s glory.

Elise went to Kandern, Germany for four days and obtained her Grip Birkman coaches’ recertification. It was wonderful to add to her knowledge of this tool and to connect with such awesome colleagues!

Our travel schedule will be much busier in these last months of 2014 as we visit with several teams of our personnel. Ask that we would be an encouragement to them as well as challenge them in their pursuit of making God known and seeing God’s name glorified in Europe. With that in mind, please be in prayer for the following friends in Slovakia: 1. Pray that God would break down the stubbornness and rebellion in two women’s hearts and bring them to salvation 2. Ask that another friend would recognize the importance of stepping out in obedience to share her faith with her Slovak friends.

DAY OF PRAYER FOR EUROPEANS – OCTOBER 19

If you’ve traveled here and seen the beautiful churches and cathedrals that are prominent in most cities, towns, and villages, you may be tempted to think that Europeans are very religious. The truth is that nearly 99 percent of Europeans do not have a personal relationship with Christ. Will you join the Euro Affinity, as they seek to change these statistics, by participating in their Day of Prayer for Europeans on Oct. 19? Mark your calendar and pray that truth will prevail and that the light of Christ will shine brightly on this continent.

In His Love,

Trey and Elise
